Best magnesium brand?
« on: February 10, 2022, 03:27:24 PM »

Hope its OK to ask about brands  :-\

Ive been raking magnesium in the hope it helps my migraines and general headaches. Also for general peri issues.

I was using a cheap supermarket magnesium citrate. This seemed to have no affect.

For the past 5 months I've been using a 3 mix of magnesium complex from Hey Nutrition. I thought I was getting a lot, but the nutritional value is hard to understand as it lists amount of elemental magnesium from overall magnesium as follows:

Magnesium citrate - 80mg elemental mag from 551mg. Mag citrate
Magnesium Glycinate - 100mg elemental mag from 555mg mag glycinate
Magnesium Malate - 25mg elemental mag from 221mg mag malate.

Most other brands don't state if their amounts are magnesium or elemental magnesium.

It does state this is:

Our high potency Magnesium Complex provides professionally recommended doses of Magnesium, Zinc and Vitamin D3. Each serving of our product delivers 205mg of elemental Magnesium (1328.52mg of Magnesium compounds) from three different sources.

So what's important? The amount of magnesium or the amount of elemental magnesium???

Any ideas????

I think it's the elemental amount that's important. I use a citrate one which gives me I think 400 elemental.
