New to HRT - advice please!
« on: November 24, 2021, 10:13:15 AM »

Hi all,
I'm new to HRT having finally started after a few years of peri symptoms & so pleased to have found this site as there's so much useful info on here.  My GP was reluctant as I'm 45 with a history of obstetric cholestasis so I had to wait for a consultant review which obv. with Covid has taken some time!  Anyway I've now started just a couple of days ago on Evorel 50 patches plus 100mg Utrogestan on days 1-25 of my cycle - so far so good!

It might sound a stupid question but my patches say don't wear under tight clothing but I was hoping to put them on my bottom so how does that work with sitting on them?!
Secondly, I'm a bit confused on the Utrogestan - if I'm taking it on days 1-25 (I think it's called sequential?), do I just then have 3 days break and then restart again day 1 again?  And then in that break will I have a 'period'?  To be honest I can't remember what the consultant said, and my GP is a bit vague on it!

Any advice very gratefully received :) :)

Hi kc2021, reference the patch under tight clothing, it's mainly around waist bands due to rubbing can make the patch come loose so if you place it away from them it should stay put, and put higher up on the bottom you won't sitting on it, I was on everol patches for 3 years and put them on my hip,  I use estrogel now, but lots use them on the bottom with no problem, can't help with the utrogestan as I use estrogen only due to hysterectomy, but I'm sure someone will advise you on that soon, good luck hope the hrt goes well for you.

Hi if you are peri menopausal, still having periods , then you should take 200mg of Utrogestan on days 15-26 of your cycle.

If you are post menopausal , then you take 100mg every night. X

Oh that makes sense thank you on the patch placement, I thought it might stop them working or something - obviously over thinking it!  Thank you for your reply :)

In relation to the Utrogestan - my consultant specifically said to take on days 1 - 25 of my cycle, I am peri but having very erratic periods and often go months without one.  Have I been given the wrong advice?
