Quick question about vagifem post hysteroscopy
« on: November 10, 2021, 11:33:13 AM »

Hi all

As you know I've been having on and off bleeding for 8 months after a clear biopsy (i'm well into the menopause).

Yesterday (went private, lucky enough to get cover via my partner's work insurance) and she did a complete belt and braces - hysteroscopy, another biopsy, polyp removal and in spite of my reluctance I agreed to have a coil fitted to (hopefully) reduce the risk of further polyps. I was under GA so she could have rebuilt the pyramids in there and I wouldn't have cared so I thought oh well, why not?

The leaflets I've come home with are no swimming, no baths, no sex, no tampons etc etc - but I forgot to ask her about vagifem. The thought of shoving anything up there right now makes my toes curl. If I miss a week will I mess everything up? Or will I have to reload again?

My atrophy is quite mild at the moment so I'm willing to risk it but if it's a bad idea I'll force myself. I only put them in half way up but I do feel a bit tender down there at the mo.

(incidentally, the pain and bleeding from a much more extensive procedure than before is really minimal. I think having it done under GA helped - before I had it via NHS with no pain relief and she did remove a cervical polyp as well as doing the biopsy and it was excruciating so I wonder if this impacts after effects).  Anyway, thanking you in advance!

Hi applejack. Sounds like you've had the works! I've found this info which might help but if you are still tender it might be better to wait and then do the loading again.https://www.fbwgynplus.com/gynaecological-surgery/hysteroscopy/. You need to scroll down to pelvic floor exercises. Is there a number you can call for advice as each consultant does work differently.

 :foryou:

no  :bouncing: :ola:   OK ?

You could put some moisturiser around the labia to stop any dryness and potential itching.

Aw, thanks CLKD - I do feel a bit fragile but so glad it’s done- good idea. I’ll get the YesVM out for a bit.

Thanks Taz! They seem to think it’s ok to use pessaries (which was autocorrected to predators - don’t fancy putting a lion up there!). I might be brave and put one part way in tomorrow then -  at least it will be one this week (cringing at the thought…)

Ah well I thought I'd update.

I got my results today - polyp, endometrium and everything else she "scraped out" - all clear. Just have to wait for the coil to settle in.

Can't find my coil strings, but she could see 'em - the joy of having a bendy cervix never fails to delight  ;)

In the absence of having my own personal speculum and miners light, I think I'll have to just trust that it's sitting snug if everything feels ok.

What a relief!

:foryou:  Such a relief to get the results back.  Sit back and relax ?  R U using the 'vagifem' again?

Don't stop.  Some require 'yes' or 'sylc' or 'ovestin' on the outer labia.
