Breakthrough bleeding
« on: November 08, 2021, 01:57:09 PM »

Hello ladies
Sorry if this has been spoken about before.
After a few failed attempts finding the golden HRT for me I thought I’d found the right one.I’m currently on 4 pumps of estrogel and 100 mg utrogeston every night plus a blob of Testogel.I’ve been feeling pretty good since I started 5 months ago.Problem is every few weeks I’m having breakthrough bleeding.I suspect my body is not ready for a continuous regime because I’ve never had this before.
What I would like to know is,has any of you tried 200mg utrogeston every night or every other night,on this regime?
I’m 48 and have been going through this journey since I was 40 and I’m wondering if I’m still peri menopausal even though it’s been  8 years

Do U still get 'periods'?  Is there any info in the leaflets in the boxes?

Perhaps put the name of the products into the search box to see if anything pops up?  Make notes.

I’ve been on HRT for most of the 8 years,so it’s difficult to say if I still had periods, and no there is no information in the leaflet to say I could go to a higher dose.

Who is prescribing your regime?  Would it be worth ringing your Nurse Practitioner for advice?

Hi which HRT were you on before you started the 4 pumps of Oestrogel? Were you having breakthrough bleeding before this? X

Breakthrough bleeding is considered normal for the first six months of beginning a conti regime so hopefully this will settle soon. If you've been on HRT for a long time and have no way of knowing when your last natural period would have been then 53/54 is the usual age to change to conti.

Is Femoston 2/10 a continuous or sequential HRT?

I was just confused with your comment about not having breakthrough bleeding before. The first six months when you change from sequi to conti can cause bleeding. Breakthrough, spotting or even continuous bleeding is common so what you are experiencing is normal. You are maybe on the young side though to begin conti as the usual age is 53/54. You can go back on to sequi if you want of course.

At 48 it's more likely than not that you're still peri. If you want to know when the bleed's coming you might to better to stay on a sequi regime a bit longer.
