Hi Michelle7474,
I just wanted to wish you luck with your gp tomorrow. My peri/POF journey started with chest pains. I currently have every symptom going. I have anxiety, palpitations, acid reflux, joint pains, chest pains and extreme nausea.  All mine started age 32/33 and I am now 39.
I've also experienced the light headedness. Some days are better than others. I get the tension in back of the head etc too. I check my blood pressure and it's usually only slightly raised. I had tried estrogen tablets recently which made it worse.....so for me I think it was too much estrogen but I'm not certain. I also have the mirena coil since December 2020 so it could be that too. I do know that when I tried estrogen tablets and patches I got feelings of extreme light headedness and dizziness. I hope you get answers soon. I've had head scans, mri of back and chest and neck and all clear.  Do keep us posted on how you get on.

GP phoned and gonna do a blood sugar test
Also upped my Omperzole to twice a day see if it helps the burning sensation
& will send me some neck excercise incase it’s the neck

Because they waiting on the 24 hour ECG they can’t do much more apparently but if my symptoms get worse to call back.

Still none the wiser to be fair
She did however say that it could be migraine related & said unfortunately that the peri menopause brings on so much different symptoms that she wouldn’t rule that out.

It sounds as if your GP is working hard to help discover what's happening to you at the moment.

If you haven't had migraine before (sorry if I've missed this in your posts) then you may find info from The Migraine Trust helpful. This the part that deals with vestibular migraines which are migraines which upset your balance and not always accompanied by a headache https://migrainetrust.org/understand-migraine/types-of-migraine/vesibular/

OP, this is how I felt fir a couple of years during the peri phase. It then went away when I hit the menopause.

Recently I decided to try HRT to help with my sleep. It didn't and I started to have horrible hot flushes which I hadn't had since the peri phase. I certainly didn't feel better. I decided to stop and since then, I get the lightheaded feeling you describe.

I know now it is a symptom linked with anxiety, and for me, it's triggered by the ups and downs of oestrogen rather than a  lack of it.

Thanks Taz .. I had one migraine ( first one ) last year where I ended up in A&E but they gave me morphine liquid and tht sorted it.
And I had one this year after Covid vaccine then they did CT scan etc & all was clear ( they did scan as I suffer with blood clots )
But since then just odd headache here and there
Last week was a headache most days after feeling aniexty all day
But tabs subsided the pain
So could have been an attempted migraine as that’s when the lightheadedness was at its worse
But I know aniexty can also cause same kinda thing
It’s hard to know what it is
But GP can only do so much
Wish sometimes we always spoke to same GP so they know your history
But our surgery we speak or see which ever one is available
But suppose must be so hard for them also.
I will be glad when we can see GP face to face like before covid
Sometimes it was the feeling of ease after seeing them .. where on phone it’s not the same as you can’t explain things as much as you would like where in the GP room we can point to things lol
I know what I’m saying but comes out wrong
Thankyou though as that link explains few things

Hi Letmein

Thanks for replying
Before I started HRT I would get the odd lightheadedness as in off balance feeling but nothing to the extreme ness of what it is now ..
I started HRT and initially I felt better but as months went on I knew it wasn’t helping as the aniexty had ramped up daily and it didn’t matter what patch I was on it was constant and daily.
Which I know aniexty can cause the lightheadedness also
I stopped my HRT yesturday as I needed to see for my self if it was making it worse or not.
Today I don’t feel so bad as in jittery but it’s early days and only time will tell. I don’t feel so lightheaded but can feel the pressure type feeling at Back of head but again no pain.
I can handle this more than the feeling of Gonna pass out
I’m hoping my hormones settle
And when I feel all the symptoms are getting the better of me I will try again
In my mind maybe I was not ready for them with my own hormones raging aswell… and maybe the dose was too strong ( pharmacist said to go in with a smaller dose next time & then up when n if needed ) she said too much hormones plus my own could have been the reason of the aniexty as often as it was
Before HRT I only got the aniexty rarely ( usually just before cycle and mid cycle ) but nothing to the extreme of how bad it was whilst on patches.

I will see how I go now & hopefully feel better for a while and give my body a test then if need be try again :)

The GP didn’t mention B12
But I presume last month maybe the bloods was done for this at visit to A&E with my burning sensation near ribs.
I don’t go hospital for years only to have my INR checked which is in and out. Since 2012 I had only 2 visits To A&E

I’ve been to A&E 4 times within a year that’s lots for me and each time I’ve been ok as in migraine .. burning sensation they couldn’t work out as all bloods was fine ( week later I phoned GP and Was prescribed Omperzole) still on these now and upped dose
But I know now that peri menopause can play havoc with our digestive system so maybe that’s linked aswell.

Palpitations I know was due to peri menopause also .. but they want to do 24 hour ECG to rule other things out
Think they have done this because I never rarely see or speak to docs & for past year with numerous different things they have heard more off me which again co insides with peri symptoms starting when I thought it did …
Things can only get better
And maybe if the aniexty slows down I might understand it more when shows at certain times in the month as I won’t be so worried and scared about it kinda thing,
Wish full thinking :)

Never assume/presume anything!  Ring the A&E dept and ask.  Your GP should have had copies of any tests by e-mail by now.

I spoke to the GP a week after this visit and he didn’t seem worried about anything said bloods and ECG looked fine and prescribed the Omperzole for the burning sensation ( which as eased )

Then I’ve spoke with another GP since who was on the phone with me a while and he was saying it’s been going on a long time but just to rule things out he would do ECG monitoring because of palpitations etc
Still waiting for that by the way. & gave me recommendations for CBT therapy as a lot of mine is pointing to aniexty

& my Blood sugar levels are being tested as she said I’ve not had them done for over a year .

Any test that I’ve had done prior GP I can see online the results and can read doctors comments
