Another Question Re Shaking/Anxiety
« on: October 25, 2020, 10:33:06 AM »

Hello ladies.

Sorry to bother you all again ladies but my experiences yesterday have raised a question that I hope you can answer.

My internal shaking and anxiety were intense yesterday afternoon and evening and I was feeling pretty desperate.
However about 9pm all the horrible feelings stopped and I felt fine. This has happened many times  during my meno, usually in the late evening but sometimes the feelings ease at other times of the day. I can never work out why this happens, nothing else changes but suddenly the awful feelings go away and I feel better. Needless to say they come back again at other times but I can't work out the reasons for this either.

My question ladies is do you think this is a meno symptom or could it be something else? I never had mood swings or anything like this before meno but could these experiences be due to depression or anxiety or Thyroid problems or anything else you can think of?

In other news lol, my flushes are definitely returning after 15 months without HRT, a nuisance obviously but at least I know they are definitely hormonal.

Thanks again ladies and  I look forward to learning from you.

Take care everyone.

Oh Kathleen, sorry you're feeling bad again   :'( but it definitely sounds like a shift in hormones, especially if you say the flushes are returning. I do know what you mean about the anxiety, sometimes I can wake through night with it,it's overwhelming, then all of a sudden it goes,I've not had the shaking recently but when I was at my worst a couple of years ago, I had this symptom too,no rhyme nor reason for the timings

Hello Kathleen.

I get the shaking too. And it's definitely to do with anxiety.
My anxiety comes in different forms. Sometimes it affects my breathing, like I have asthma, other times it feels like it's inside my stomach and causing havoc there and making me feel quite poorly, almost like butterflies, a feeling of anticipation even, but, I can go a long time without any of those horrible symptoms, and out the blue, the shaking starts. It could be, I'm talking about something, and I'll just start to shake, and with that, I feel cold and shivery.
Just when I think the anxiety is under control, it gets me with the shaking. 🤷‍♀️ Tbh, I'd rather have one of the other symptoms, I know where I am with those, but the shaking? No, I can't seem to get to grips with that one. 🤷‍♀️

Sorry your going through a bad stage. But I'll tell you Kathleen, hats off to you for going it alone and giving up your hrt. ...hang on in there, it's got to get better. Your doing brilliantly. Which you probably don't think so, I only wish I had the gumption to try and give up mine. X

Hello ladies and thank you so much for your replies.

Jaypo -  actually I have welcomed a return of the flushes because that reassures me that the other symptoms are hormones. It also helps that the flushes are not too bad. I'm sorry that you have had these experiences as well and I agree that there doesn't seem to be any reason for them and they just appear randomly.

Jillydoll -  I do sympathise with you as these feelings are horrible. Mine seem to come and go at various times of the day. I can feel okay in the morning, be a nervous wreck in the afternoon and then suddenly be a lot calmer in the evening. Sometimes of course this pattern also changes. For example I had a few good days and thought I had turned a corner only to feel dreadful again shortly after. I'm exhausted by it all.

Like you I think I'd rather have one of the other symptoms.  Can I ask what HRT you are on and have you considered changing it?

On an optimistic note my GP says it does settle eventually and I know several older women who say the same thing but of course that is little comfort when you feel so horrible through no fault of your own.

Thanks again ladies I truly appreciate your comments and I wish you both well.

Take care.

Hi Kathleen.

It is, it's a horrible time of life. And like you, just when I think I'm doing good and the anxiety, in the forms of the breathing or in the stomach, seem to be under control, the shakes seem to come from nowhere. They kind of knock you for six, almost like something catastrophic has happened and it's shook you up. That's the only way I can describe it.
I'm on Femoston Conti. And I've recently upped the dose to 2mg a day. It is better, I'm more 'stable' for a better word,  ;D I don't get depressed and tearful so often now. It's my second time of upping the dose, the first time it made me depressed after only a month, I don't know why, other than it was the progesterone, so I panicked and dropped back down, then other symptoms returned, so I upped again and it's been ok so far, ...that was about 2/3 months ago. ......I still get anxiety, and the shakes occasionally, BUT, they're no where near as bad as they were.
I've swapped and changed my hrt through my journey, and I find this is best for me. Although looking back, I also thought Femseven patches were ok too, but, I wasn't on them long, as we couldn't get them anymore. But I do know they're being made again, according to my OH who looked it up, they stopped due to a problem with the glue on them, and they should be available soon. If not already.
I really hope all this soon stops for you, or you find some relief in something. It really starts to grate on us doesn't it......stay safe Kathleen. xxx

Hello ladies

Jillydoll -  I am sorry that you are still suffering and you have my sympathy. Like you I have times when I feel better but unfortunately they never last. It is exhausting.

Jaypo - I would definitely have been in an Asylum back in the day.

Take care ladies.
