That's a reasonable time for a wild bird though when you consider all of the dangers. Robins for example only live less than 2 years on average

Blimey, just looked what I wrote, I meant the DON'T live very long  ::)
Yes I was shocked to learn robins live on average 1-2 years but sad,the one we have at the moment is very friendly, comes right at your feet to eat his seeds 🥰

Neighbours' cat brought in a caterpillar, I couldn't understand why DH was showing me a black poo  :o  ::) - a privet hawk moth,  ;D now at the bottom of a fuchsia plant.

Hawk moth caterpillars - last week we found 1: rescued from the kitten:  which may/not B the critter on the floor under the fuchsia shrub where it was placed - and another on an evening primrose stalk :-))))

It's too wet for our large fish, now 38 years old.  He/she is hiding under some debris [blanket and duck weed] that I laid on top of the protecting wire mesh [to stop mink].   ;D. It came out from the shelter to feed, then swam back underneath

Japanese Koi can be long lived too.  And grow HUGE!  He/she was 1 of 12 that we bought, 9 survived the 20 mins journey back to here.  Several years later 7 died after the air pressure altered suddenly, a lot of expensive fish were lost that night  :-\ :'(.  He/she is the last .........

There's some bedraggled looking birds outside today  :-\

Lots of young goldfinches on the feeders in the front garden.  Birds ignored the nuts in the back which had to go in the bin after last weeks rain.

Need to re-organise the feeders to spread the sunflower hearts around a bit.  The sunflowers below are great, self set - large flower heads, bright yellow to brighten up the day  8) :-*

Siskins are back  8)

Lots of goldfinches and blue tits. 4 Gt tits.  Pigeons ++, still trying to hump each other  ;D

I treated them to 5 new feeders this week, 2 specifically for sunflower hearts: well that's a no, there's more mess than from the others  >:(.  Hence the pigeons  ::). Occasionally blackbirds ...........
