Yes I have taz2 , there are quite a few around, a couple of years back local farmers dug trenches and locked gates to keep the coursers out and they have thrived since x

 ;D

Sadly hares have picked up a virus similar to myxxi in rabbits though it was thought not to be able to cross the species lines  :'(

We were at Welney wetlands last week and there were 5 running about there  :-*

Good for them Countrygirl. I really wish there was a closed season for shooting hares in England and Wales, well, I wish there was a law to prevent any shooting of hares but even a closed season would be better than nothing.

This is info about the virus https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/jan/25/deadly-rabbit-virus-threatens-uk-brown-hare-population

Sadly we have myxomatosis in our rabbit population here. As in most parts of the UK it comes around in cycles and also leads to an increase in the fox population. The foxes feast well on the dying rabbits and have larger litters and then the rabbits disappear for a few years and the foxes dwindle a bit. On the way to the pub (what a suprise  ;D) there always used to be at least a dozen on the verges but for two years we didn't see any at all - following a period of me picking up the dying ones for euthanasia - but over the last six months we are beginning to see them again. Horrible illness. Disgusting that it was man made.

Oh - would be nice with peas, carrots and gravy ;-)

Myxii was introduced by humans  >:( in the 1960s.  Awful way to try to control a population.  Of course in the War rabbit was free to shoot and many survived on it.  I find hare too 'gamey'  :-\ ..........

What did you think the hare would do Country Girl though if in doubt, leave it out ;-).  My biggest scare [now here's a meander  ::)] was cycling through the Fen one night alone: went under a street lamp which threw my shadow in front of me  :o I though I'd been 'got'  :o :o.  My heart beats fast even now and that's when I was about 13.  The next scare was cycling along the Fen by a dyke when a barn owl flew out of the mist, keeping pace beside me  :D.  Silent.  Ghostly.

Hedgehog was here last night and the pair of blackbirds are begging for meal worms; goldfinches on the freshly filled feeders.

Ha ha. It looks like you were late with breakfast. Squirrels are more likely on doorsteps than hares but you never know... ;D

OMG - I thought it was a cat Two hoots. I'm so sorry oops.

The peregrines have laid 4 eggs. They are a bit late this year but I thinks it's because they have had scaffolding & builders working on the cathedral roof. Thank goodness they have finished now.
