They don't fly but get up at the last moment when they see potential danger, which is why they get caught against vehicles.  However, without the hunting fraternity, the UK would never have had wild pheasants.  Pays your money, takes your choice.  How much do you know about raising poults for shooting?

Not much to report this morning.  Apart from more spawn  ;D

Aww we have two partridge that visit our garden regularly, also some beautiful pheasant but living in the country, the estate that we live on do shoots and I actually stood at my bedroom window and watched men shooting them,I couldn't bear it,was crying it upset me so much, why breed a bird just to shoot it?when you see them flying for their lives it's heartbreaking,I HATE hunting,if I'd a gun I would've shot them

I'm exactly the same. I think it's vile raising animals, releasing them into the unknown then murdering them. 😩 Pheasants are such lovely creatures. I see so many killed on the roads here as well.
Oh me too Birdy,I hate all hunting, killing wildlife for fun is beyond me

I would like some pheasants/game birds in the garden - had quail but they had to be kept under wire as they are flighty.  Pheasants would encourage foxes so they probably wouldn't last long but the colours would brighten up the area; as would a cockerel but they are so noisy!

Emus escape too.  Now that's one bird to really really AVOID as they kick.  Hard!

Whilst driving?  We have lots of those around here, usually in fields.
