Taz is back on Saturday.

I love watching seals, not so sure about swimming with them though. Mind you they may think the same about us  ::)

I'm wondering whether Galadriel has heard one of the tagged cuckoos - she posted that she heard one this morning - we are all waiting for Chris to arrive. He was over the English Channel yesterday and should be the first one home. I am so excited!! http://www.bto.org/science/migration/tracking-studies/cuckoo-tracking/chris  Sadly Ken still has to cross the desert and is still a long way from home...

Update update.. I made a mistake... Skinner arrived yesterday close to Northampton....

 :thankyou:  will listen out for Skinner ......... I read about the tagging in Country Life yesterday  ::)  however, with all the noise of lawn mowers  >:( it's hard to hear anything sensible  :cuss:

Skinner's arrived in Norfolk now CLKD - he flew overnight to his home territory -  but nice to know he was near you on his way! One new finding this year is that one of the cuckoos made one leg of the trip in daylight - something not known before as the migratory flights have always been at night apart from the desert flights.

Am pleased to see that "my" cuckoo, Derek, made it back to Norfolk. His first transmission from the UK was from Basingstoke on the morning of 7th May (just a few miles from me) and by lunchtime he was back on the Broads all the way from the Congo Rainforest. http://www.bto.org/science/migration/tracking-studies/cuckoo-tracking/derek

I haven't heard one here but my friend closer to the woods has - 2 weeks ago. (2 miles from our house)

Lots of fledglings around, can hear them cheeping  ;)

What an amazing project - actually being able to track them on their incredible journey. No I haven't heard one yet either   :(- we always used to get them here.

Blackbirds all busy scolding the cat whenever she goes outside so will be busy feeding their young... and finally - blue tits eating the fat-balls! (Having ignored them all winter - threw away the rancid old ones, got some new ones and hey presto they've been discovered!). Also the flowering shrubs have all burst into flower and leaf so giving the birds somewhere to shelter before feeding.

Oh CLKD where is your soul  :) its a blond beautiful horse, they are a breed , I think the one above just got extra lucky in the gene pool.
