I should have been in France now  :-\ also our trip to Malvern spring show is off.  Compared to what some families are going through its nothing, but a date to resume travel would lift my spirits  :)

Hello ladies.

The government haven't notified us of an exit strategy so far.

I know that  Music Festivals have been cancelled as had Wimbledon and the Edinburgh Fringe.  I expect other large Summer gatherings have also been cancelled.

Take care everyone.

I think if anyone suggested that this lockdown will continue until Sept/October there would be riots.  Half a day at a time.  I keep imagining how long the queues on the M1 might be when every one heads off on the same day  ;D

I agree - it's going to have to be a long time but to suggest that might cause people to go bonkers and think what the hell, and drive off to holidays spots anyway!

There can never be a predicted date that restrictions will be lifted because of the unpredictability of the epidemiology of this virus and especially in realtion to the measures taken to restrict its spread.

It might be possible to suggest a stage at which we can think about easing restrictions. For example in Wuhan which was so severely locked down, resctrctions were only eased after day(s?) where no new CV-19 deaths were reported. Since our numbers just in hopsitals were almost 1K yesterday, it's going to be a long time before we return to that situation in UK.

Might be a while before we can go on hols though I'm still hoping for our late July one in UK...

'they' can't lift restrictions until Boris says so.  It was muted yesterday in the Press update that until he has left Hospital, this won't be considered as a topic though this morning's headlines suggest otherwise.

Many holiday businesses have collapsed.  Many have mothballed their establishments or are doing take-out food to locals: but have laid off Staff  :'(.  Not many will be able to deep clean their establishments as there will be a rush on Cleaning Companies and this of course, will have added cost to an already struggling industry.

Some UK Companies are still trading - Cumbria and Cornwall - taking bookings for holidays that aren't actually available.  The Government has jumped hard on those.  Also there will be a lack of eateries due to small cafes going out of business  :'(: museums etc. rely on the over 70s to man stations .......... there won't be UK holidays all of a sudden  :-\ because the infra-structure has gone.

Am loving our garden and have no anxiety about needing to decide where to go ......... all those places I would love to see aren't possible.  I can't go and see Mum either  ;)

I wonder how many small businesses applying for Grants etc. won't be allowed to open until the New Year anyway once we know how long the peaks and troughs will continue.

There will be peaks and troughs ........

The Police are blocking A and B roads because some insist on travelling overnight to their holiday homes.  If arrested and charged under the State of Emergency Laws they will get a Criminal Record.  Really.  Which bit of stay at home and enjoy the sunshine don't they get.  If they had driven to their holiday homes in Feb and stayed there it wouldn't be such a problem .........

Not sure about the criminal record bit CLKD.  It's a fine-able offence but, as far as I am aware, you can only get a criminal record it you refuse to pay the fine and it goes to court.  It's a bit like parking on a double yellow etc.,
