Help please! :(
« on: February 12, 2020, 08:18:22 PM »

Hi ladies

Would really welcome some advice please....

I've been on Tibilone/livial for just over 6 months, the hot flushes have virtually subsided, but it is making me very irritable and tearful.

In fact, I have felt pretty much like I used to feel before having my Bilateral Salpingo Oophorectomy in 2014 for pmdd (still have uterus)

My Gynae tells me that me still having my uterus means there is very little choice in the way of HRT.

I am really struggling on the tibilone, but am concerned about not taking any HRT at all.  Can anyone help me at all, have any of you had similar experiences please?

Hiya,lisa. Sorry you're feeling rough.

There are other options of HRT. .  I am BSO with uterus.  And I  have tried various HRT regimes .the same as anyone with ovaries and a uterus.  You must take adequate ,progesterone/progestin  to protect the uterus I dont see why you shouldnt have a choice of products.

. .  I hope someone here with experience of pmdd  can advise.as  to how HRT may affect it.  May I ask your age?  Do you want to not be without HRT purely for the hot flushes? It might help others to answer here .
, i have to say in my personal experience some gynaes have poor understanding of HRT. My advice to you would be find out If you have a gp with a special interest or nurse practitioner at your practice and ask to see them or to be. referred to a menopause clinic.  I believe you can get more specific advice than you have received.

if you go to this page on  forum
https://www.menopausematters.co.uk/oestrogens.php

There is a pdf file on the different HRTs.   If you want to have a browse.
You will need a regime which includes a progesterone/progestin.
Xx

:thankyou:  Tc. nice to C U around!

I had premenstrual syndrome.  I was advised by the N[ational]A[ssociation]for P[remenstrual]S[syndrom] NAPS to eat every 3 hours.  24/7. 52/12.  Even in the night.  The idea was to keep blood sugar levels even. To stop that awful hunger dip - which made me feel really, really sick.  It happened 10-14 days prior to a period.

Bananas.  Porridge  :sick02:.  Dried fruits and nuts.  Anything slow release to keep the body fuelled helped a lot.  It took a while to eat 24/7 but it made a difference.

It may be that an appt with a Menopause Clinic would be the way to go?  Put the Tibilone into the search box and see if any threads pop up?  Make notes ;-)

Hi Lisa, sorry to know you're not feeling great on Tibolone.  Can't add much to Tc's good advice, especially as I have no experience of PMDD, but just want to second what she says about trying to get another opinion.  I've also had BSO with uterus retained & have been struggling to find the right HRT fit in terms of symptom relief without deal-breaking side effects.  I think that's not unusual after BSO - get the impression it can take some perseverance  ::).  Testosterone has just been added to my low dose combi regimen & that seems already to be making a positive difference in several ways.

Though availability issues are complicating choices for us all at present, there is quite a range on the market so I feel there should be something that suits you better, but I would seek advice from a Menopause clinic as to what would be reasonable to try wrt your past PMDD if there is no GP in your practice with the right knowledge to help.   Please don't lose hope, with the right help there should be something out there to get you feeling a lot better. :)

Thanks so much ladies (CLKD, Tc and Wrensong) for your replies and advice, I really appreciate it!
I have an appointment with my GP on Tuesday so am going to ask about the possibility of testosterone as I also have zero libido and am hoping this may help??
I will also try eat slow release foods to keep the body fuelled and blood sugar levels even.
Hope you are all well and will keep my fingers crossed for signs of improvement! 🤞🏻🙂
