Oh yes, bowel issues are just another problem that emerges when meno hits. Eat small meals regularly through the day, drink enough water and ensure you get enough good fibre. I developed Diverticuli (little pockets in my lower bowel) which now become inflamed easily. The doctors said it happens when one suffers with constipation but I'm a life vegetarian with a high fibre diet and open my bowels at least twice a day. oestrogen deficiency reduces muscle and skin strength, the digestive transit is controlled by muscle, so my logic says, less muscle strength will result in a poorer digestive transit.
I hate when doctors blame our complaints on our lifestyle when it's clear that so much is down to the menopause and general aging. DGx

Try a small handful of nuts mid morning and do have cereal for breakfast with a banana. Wholemeal bread is good and plenty of vegetables, salad and fruit - although don't overdo the potatoes.  Avoid sugar as much as possible.

I found my bowel habits improved after ovaries removed and have found now on estrogen that I'm constipated

HORMONES! I used to get 'the runs' 10 mins. B4 a bleed began even if a period wasn't due.  Couldn't travel at that time of the month  :-\.

I would also be 'constipated' in the week prior to a period.  And feel really queasy  >:(
