Hi.
My periods are exactly the same at the minute- 5 and half weeks between the last two. I spent the weeks after my normal due day worrying and waiting! Can't wait for them to just finish!

Yes HRT can help with the regulation of periods Pink68. What meno symptoms do you have?

Hi KerryMac. Although I know that periods are a nuisance I think that the longer you have them the better in terms of the way loss of oestrogen can effect the body. Rock and a hard place!

Thanks Taz2 and KerryMac for your replies.  My symptoms are sweats at night, occasional flushes, joint pain, anxiety sore down below through out the month. It's a horrible time. X

HRT could definitely help with the night sweats and joint pain plus the vaginal soreness does need, in my opinion and experience, oestrogen of some kind. You can be prescribed a cream or pessary for this which is only a small amount of oestrogen if you don't want to start full HRT yet. Vaginal atrophy won't get better on its own and the sooner it's treated the better. Have you asked your GP about HRT? Life really is too short to put up with the discomfort of meno symptoms.

Hi Taz2, I have had bloods checked came back normal!😳 one doc gave me hrt everol sequi, the other doc said not to take it as bloods were normal. I am  even more confused as I am not sure if doc said bloods normal and I take hrt would that be to much oestrogen ? X

Blood tests are really unreliable as hormone levels fluctuate daily during peri. Diagnosis is usually on symptoms alone. I would personally go with the doc who prescribed Evorel. Patch HRT usually works quite quickly for flushes and sweats. Mine disappeared after 48 hours after coping with them every twenty minutes day and night. I put HRT off for two years as, like lots of us, I was never going to take it due to the misconception that I would just sail through meno with no problems. I started it at age 53 as I was finding it increasingly difficult to do my job properly. I'm still on it 12 years later. It's such a personal choice as to whether to use HRT or not but, for me, it has made such a difference.

Hi Taz   Have the Evorel patches helped with joint/muscle aches at all for you? I  have found that it is helping to reduce VA but nothing else yet. I don't have a problem with flushes/sweating. I have only been on full patches for 1 month so far.

Yes it really has helped especially with that weird stiffness you can get when you stand up after sitting for a while. It took around three months though for the full effect. It's worth getting Vit D levels checked too as this can cause aches and pains if it's too low. Hope it works for you soon.
