Blood tests are really unreliable as hormone levels fluctuate daily during peri. Diagnosis is usually on symptoms alone. I would personally go with the doc who prescribed Evorel. Patch HRT usually works quite quickly for flushes and sweats. Mine disappeared after 48 hours after coping with them every twenty minutes day and night. I put HRT off for two years as, like lots of us, I was never going to take it due to the misconception that I would just sail through meno with no problems. I started it at age 53 as I was finding it increasingly difficult to do my job properly. I'm still on it 12 years later. It's such a personal choice as to whether to use HRT or not but, for me, it has made such a difference.
