Low blood sugar?
« on: February 02, 2019, 05:41:02 PM »

Have had first period for a few months this week and woke in night feeling anxious sick and faint and then starving hungry. Then this morning I woke up with slightly strange vision lasting a few seconds then feeling headachey slightly faint and very hungry and tired out again. A bit like a migraine?
No idea what's going on - any clues??

I get migraines if I don't eat properly.
Then urges for sugar kick in. Makes me feel better for a while then I crash again.
Sounds like a hormone/blood sugar crash to me.
Try and eat something small every couple hours, and eat something before bedtime.
I sometimes eat toast, or a bowl cornflakes or crackers, something like that to keep everything where it should be in the night.
Just because we're asleep, our bodies still need fuel to keep going.

How'd you feel now? How did you feel after you'd eat something?

I feel a little better but still got a background sort of headache...
I always have cereal before I go to bed but last few days I've been noticeably more hungry than usual so I think it's definitely hormone related.

Hi

I have had similar symptoms around the times when another period approached, they are now many months apart (and may have stopped - who knows). Never (luckily) in my life before had I anything like a migraine but I have had a few instances that could have been migraines, nausea independently, feeling dizzy, faint at times, seeing sparks in vision. Late stage peri has thrown up lots of crazy symptoms for me especially over 2018 (not on HRY yet, 49y) but luckily things seem to be getting better. Eating smaller portions more often, having a small snack or a glass of milk before sleep may also help as well as not too much refined sugar and cutting down on caffeine, and exercise. AG
