Rollercoaster
« on: February 02, 2019, 06:48:36 PM »

Hello all you lovely women who've supported me over the last week when I've been feeling suicidal. Just to give you an update - I started back on Utrogestan 100mg vaginally on Thurs night. Didn't sleep a wink and felt dreadful on Friday. But today I've been feeling much much better; slept from 11pm to 7am with only one break (almost unheard of in the last year) and although I still had the acute anxiety on waking that's been plagueing me all this time, I was better equipped to deal with it. So managed to drive the 50 mile round trip to visit my brother in Sidmouth and get some sea air; in fact I felt more normal than I have in weeks. My conclusion after 3 months of unopposed high dose estrogen is that I do need some progesterone to feel OK, I just can't cope with more than 8 - 9 days at a time.

So now I think I need to follow up the suggestions from various members, about altering the type and dose of estrogen I'm on - something that's never been addressed by any of the 'experts' I've seen. Time to take matters ito my own hands I think. BIG thanks to you all for keeping me going and not letting me give in to the 'I'm just mentally ill' thing; when you're on your own it's so hard to maintain an objective view xxx

I hate to sound pessimistic, but this isn't a big breakthrough, just a return to the slightly less bad times of the months before the utrogestan break. I still have to endure the difficult Utrogestan cycle thing with all that entails, and worst of all I'm still going to wake up tomorrow morning feeling hellishly anxious. So while I appreciate the good wishes, not a lot has changed really....

Small step forward Racjen
I guess when like me you feel you are going backwards it's a little bit of hope.
I hope you continue to make more steps forward than back xxxxx

Hi racjen, I replied on the other thread before I saw this.  Its so nice to know you felt well enough to go out to see your brother.
Addressing the change in oestrogen - I know you can't afford big expense of another consultant and its not really practical for you in the south west as there is no one there for you to see. Forget about the idiot man in Poole!!! :beat:  How about finding someone who does telephone consults maybe Louise Newsom does them and she is huge meno big wig!!  or writing to Dr Currie about changing your oestrogen as she will write to your GP.

Keep the utro to 7-10 days and see how you go maybe but it obviously as a place in your regime because doing without it made no difference and taking it allowed you to get some sleep and go out! - Must be doing something?!
I am so happy to see you :clapping:
