Poor you having to go through these hoops.  It's all the waiting that adds to the stress.  I assume you know you can buy online from Superdrug, but it's not cheap.

Yes thanks. I do know that but will only do it if absolutely necessary. When I finish my current supply, I should be able to make a new request to the GP but will probably only get enough to use 2-3 a week again.

I'll send them tomorrow my dear. You shouldn't have to but in case you don't know, Superdrug online sells vagifem. It's not right this. Your doctor needs a kick up the arse. X
Yes I know about Superdrug as a source. Why don't GP's who are willing to prescribe for daily use communicate with those who don't?

GP's hand out amyltriptyline at the drop of a hat! Repeat prescription easy for that.

I am not familiar with amyltriptyline other than knowing that it is an AD but it certainly seems that doctors are more willing to prescribe some things than others. I'd much rather use Vagifem (a replacement) than continuous AB's. i have had far more of those than I want to. Using vagifem is to try and prevent the need for AB's.

Last year in late October I got told by my named GP that I couldn't have anymore Vagifem until January as I had exceeded my quota.
I made another appointment with a different GP and he said he was happy to prescribe whatever I needed to make me able to lead a normal life. My VA was so severe before treatment it was painful to sit, walk and sleep because of the burning feeling and I would have been in the same state again if it went untreated for 3 months.

How many had you had up to that point in time? My GP only issues them per prescription but doesn't supply enough to last 2 months if you take them daily. I tried not taking one last night and can already feel the discomfort creeping back. Did the different GP then agree to set it up as a repeat so you wouldn't have to arrange another appt. the next time?

Katejo...I get two boxes with every prescription, so I put script in about a week before they run out.
I am in systemic HRT as well for the VA, but still need daily Vagifem, how many Vagifem have you been prescribed a week?

I wouldn't bother with your GP again, make an appointment with another one. I know longer make an appointment with my named GP he just seems to want to dole out antibiotics and antidepressants!

Katejo, are you on HRT as well? Most of us need both to really treat VA. Can you not just ask to see another doctor?
I don't know which practice you are with but I used to be with the one on Forest Road, and rarely saw the same doctor twice. However, I had no issues with any of them. You can't live like this, it's ridiculous.
Hi Birdy  No I'm not on systemic  HRT. I haven't asked for it before now. I didn't get the hot flushes/sweating except very mildly and didn't pursue it. I did have the UTI's but didn't connect that with meno until much more recently. I am getting a referral to a meno clinic now. After reading the new book about oestrogen, I do want to look into it. It may help my joints and aching calves/soles of feet.
I am at James St practice. I have considered moving but the only other one near me has really bad reviews. I have already seen 2 GP's about this and the on duty pharmacist and all have said that Vagifem should only be 2-3 times a week. I am looking for a suitably authoritative source of info to show them which says other wise. I referred to NICE guidelines but that wasn't enough!

I didn't see my named one this time. It is quite hard to see her because she is part time and mostly does phone appts. which I don't like. The practice is revamping its appointment system and recruiting new staff. I need to look at the new website during the holiday and try again.

Would they tell a diabetic that they have used their quota?
