Advice Needed
« on: December 12, 2018, 11:50:38 AM »

I am 52 was on Femosoton sequi for many years until the gynae put me on conti, but having continuous progesterone didn't agree with me and I went back to Femoston 1/10. I wasn't getting a withdrawal bleed on the 1/10 and getting quite a lot of headaches so 2 months ago  I decided to come off hrt and see what happened.
My flushhes and nightsweats have come back and I'm feeling pretty low so I have decided to go back on hrt.
The headaches have improved so I think it would be better to try something else and was thinking about the utrogestan/estragel regime but I have no idea what to ask the gp for. Do any of you lovely ladies have any advice for me as my gp surgery are a bit useless when it comes to hrt?

Kathryn you have my sympathy re flushes and night sweats, I have had them for 20years, seems like 50!! Hope you find something that helps you  :-*

I have been on Fem Seven conti patches for 9years, but they have now been discontinued, so in a real panic as to what I use now..

Jari could you post info on your diet/life changes, would love to stop my sweats, sleep and feel normal..x

Hi kathryn66 – sorry to hear about your symptoms returning. When you came off the HRT – how long have you been off it for and have you had a bleed? ie do you know where in menopause you are?

Personally I swear by patches – but with separate Utrogestan as you suggested. I've used Estradot patches for 11.5 years and swear by them and have used “natural” progesterone for all this time too – first Cyclogest on 4 week cycle and since 2011, Utrogestan on 6-8 week cycle – but this (longer cycle) is only suitable if you are very late peri or post-menopause.

All the different products are listed on the menu under HRT preparations/treatments.

I'm also very much in favour of dietary and lifestyle changes along with the right dose and type of HRT

Hope this helps and do ask if you need any more help.

Hurdity x

Hi Hurdity
Thank you for taking the time to reply
I came off 2 months ago and haven't had a bleed, one of the reasons I came off was because I wasn't getting a withdrawal bleed! I don't really know where I am, I have been Taking HRT for around 9 years as I started getting flushes at 43, so what does this make me? Can you explain to me what you mean by 4 week and 6-8 week cycles please?
