Relapse on 4 pumps of gel!
« on: August 06, 2018, 03:51:10 PM »

Well today it feels like I am back exactly where I was 3 years ago.

Panicky, frightened, disconnected, palpitations, sweating, shivering, nausea, knawing anxiety and back to safety seeking behaviour.  I'm not sleeping well either.

The only thing that's different is I have started to split my doses, morning and night. Apart from now using Oestradose too.  And I've stopped taking tesogel too.

This spell seems to have lasted about 10 days now.

Just when I thought I'd cracked it too.

Hi go back to using 4 pumps all at once and don’t split it. Go back on testosterone if that was working x

Have you changed from Oestrogel to Oestrodose?

Thanks Dotty - I think your right.

Today is the first time in 3 years, I would take Diazepam if I had it.  This is awful xxx

Why did you start splitting the dose?

Are you using Oestrogel or oestrodose?

I started splitting it as it started to feel a bit too much all in one go.

Sort of like the jitters maybe, then it wore off by about 5.30 after applying it about 8 am.  Then the flushes would start again.

I think it's all the changes you're making with the hormones, I had the same problems when changing from morning dosing to evening dosing. My doctor says the most important thing is consistency, not chopping and changing everything, it took nearly a month to feel normal again for me.

MIS71MUM I feel exactly the same at the moment too, I was feeing a little normal & my patches have been just sweating off me in this heat so I must admit I haven't been using as consistent as I should have been & i am feeling like I am back to the start again too, I have also been like this for about 10 days too. I was finding I was ok until about 4pm & then the jitters would start & panicky. I would give my right arm to feel normal again  :(

So sorry to hear that, Mis71Mum. Where there are fluctuations, there will be symptoms. Once daily dosing will always produce a 'high' upon initial dose uptake, so it's about finding what feels most comfortable. No HRT will ever be perfect in this respect (at least I don't think it could be - unless it is a time release formula)! The closest anyone would ever get for consistent dosing over months are implants - and even these taper off towards the end of the implant's 'life'. These are rarely if ever offered via the NHS to women in natural menopause. xxxx

Hi there MIS71MUM - sorry to hear you are going through a blip. It certainly won't be due to changing to Oestrodose - I've just done a post on this and have written to Besins and this is exactly the same product as Oestrogel - just different name. Your symptoms are quite extreme and do sound hormonal. I think you kept your ovaries didn't you after your hysterectomy? If so and you are still ovulating then the rise and fall in progesterone can cause symptoms like this. Another thing is what is your diet like? Maintaining even blood sugar levels can help regulate the worst effects of some hormonal surges and dips - so this means cutting out sugar as much as you can including sugary drinks, as well as reducing refined carbs as much as possible ( cakes, biscuits, pastries, white pasta, white rice etc) and replacing with more lean protein, fruit and veg, nuts, low fat dairy etc). Apologies if you already do this - but I suffer from low blood sugar problems if I don't eat in this way and get sweats, shakiness, agitation, sugar craving, weakness etc which is nothing to do with hormones at all!

Why did you stop the Testogel and what dose were you taking? Also how long did you take it for? Did you have your levels (and SHBG) measured to check they weren't too high?

Hope you don't mind all the questions and hope you feel better soon :)

Hello all

And thanks for your replies. I'm thinking that if we are feeling good, like we were Dee46, or if the weather throws out the patches sticking, fluctuations will occur.

Then we are feeling rubbish because of the fluctuations.  So let's both be as consistent as we can for the next month and see how we get on.

I'm peri too, not sure that helps our cause at all!

Dee46, how do you feel on the 100 patches? Do you feel that you get the hit for the first 24 hours?

Hi Hurdity

Thanks for your reply - yes I did my ovaries.  I'm sure there's a pattern to all this for me. About 2 weeks ago, I felt as if I had awful PMT, anger, mood swings, stress, etc. Then last Saturday- it felt as it I had a massive crash, flat, numb and weepiness.

I think I felt so well with the testogel that I stopped taking it. My gyny said I didn't need to take it all the time but thinking about it, I suppose I should try a 3 month course before dropping it.
This last week though and it's strange you mention this, I went to the seaside for a holiday with my family. My normal weight watches diet has gone out of the window, i've been eaten fish and chips / doughnuts etc.  My 3 litres of water has also taken a hit!
I know I need to get back on track with WW - as I do feel much better whilst being in control of my food!

Thanks again - the post about Oestradose & oestrogel has put my mind at ease.

I am thinking that maybe the weather is not helping my hormones at all, but I must admit when one came off the other week I didn't replace for a good day or so, totally forgot about putting another one on, so maybe why I took the dip, patch started to peel after shower last night so managed to dry it off a bit & re stick, felt better last night by about 9pm & had a better night's sleep, after feeling rubbish all day. Will change to Estradot tomorrow evening on patch change night.

Yep I am going to be as consistent as I can be for the next month, going on hols Thursday & hoping with the heat/water my patches will be able to stay on!

I have read that peri is worse but guess there are lots of factors why we all start at different ages & why some of us suffer more than others.

I have been on Evorel 100 patches since October 2017, I have good & bad times, the good were outweighing the bad for a while, now I feel back to feeling rubbish again. I think the first 24hrs I feel more jittery & almost every evening I feel like I am losing control for about 4 hrs a night, bloody awful.

Feel achy today, bubbly stomach, banging head & a bit of nausea

It's funny you should say that - but I always felt 100mg was a bit much for the first 24 hours, then I'd be fine after that.

I did 4 pumps this morning and will carry on with my Testogel at the evening time.

I'm back at work today after being on leave, I used to chart my moods and symptoms etc, and it seem to struggle from 26th to 9th of each month.  However June was okay - so maybe the 4 pumps were starting to override things - then I started to split the dose.

Roll on the 10th!
