Hair loss
« on: July 24, 2018, 10:47:15 AM »

Hi all,
Going through the usual nonsense with the "mentalpause" I've been on Femeston for a few months now and it's taken care of most of my symptoms and put me back on a sort of even keel.
However the one thing that's persisting is the hair loss. It's falling out in handfulls whenever I wash it, brush it, or sometimes even when I look at it funny! (or so it seems) I've always had really thick hair and although I've not suffered any bald patches yet (touch wood) my hair is pathetically thin and wispy.
I realise I'm very lucky in that most of my meno symptoms are being held at bay by the HRT and this seems a small thing to nitpick at but I just wondered if anyone had any ideas for mitigating the hair loss thing? Is there a vitamin deficiency linked, should I be taking any supplements that might help? Or is it just a case of 'suck it up buttercup'?  ;D

Mine too Susan and I'm 61 but its getting so thin. I stopped using the hair coloring with ammonia and switch to a non permanent and that helped some also those packets of deep conditioner I put on for 20 minutes.  It looks better than it did because my parting seemed to be getting wider every time I looked  ;D and I also put the hairdryer on a cooler setting. I think some of the ladies mention vitamins and thats probably a good idea too. Its so depressing getting older  :-\

Thanks folks. I'm already taking Vit D, calcium and multi B vitamins. I stopped dying my hair a few years ago now. Just figured it couldn't be good for you, all those chemicals long term and I really don't mind going grey at all, so that was an easy choice. I draw the line at going bald though!  ;D

I use conditioner all the time now and always let my hair dry naturally.

BTW, I love 'mentalpause' - I'm going to adopt it!
