Christening present

Has anyone any ideas for a christening present, other than the normal silver money boxes and things.

How old is the child? Pink or Blue ?

My Granny started ERNIE - Premium Bonds - when I arrived. I've won 2 x £50 in all those years  ;D
A child isn't aware of presents.  But maybe something for the parents?  Do they have a garden?  If large enough an oak or other UK tree, so that the child can watch it growing as they do?  Or if grandparents are more settled in their home, plant one there?

Do they attend Church/Chapel on a regular basis?  A Bible with attendees signatures inside?

Thank you for your ideas it's for a little girl and she has just had her 1st birthday.I like the idea of a tree but their garden although beautifully done is quite small and I'm not sure it is their forever home.you have got me thinking though so maybe a shrub or a rose they could take with them if they do move.

i think thats a lovely idea too but wonder whether younger parents would care for it because it would be a shame if it died.  I have 5 nieces and nephews in their 30s and none of them are interested in gardening, houseplants etc.

We had an orange plant but it died after 8 months  ::).  Many plants are named after people.

Is there anything relating to her name that would be suitable, or maybe 4 the time being, rag books or water-proof books which last for years.  Something a little more 'girly' as she grows up because she won't remember this time of her Life.

My granddaughter has a donkey, who sends her things every now and then.
‘Adopt a donkey' she showed me the other day, she loves him, his names ‘Frankie'

I went to a Christening recently and bought a box set of the Hungry Caterpillar book and toy. It was my daughter's idea because her two year old loves books that have toys to go with them. I wasn't sure but my niece ( baby's mum) loved it.

You could also do what Prince Harry's doing for his nephews & nieces,
Setting up a library of 1st edition children's books!
He bought Louis a 1st edition Winnie the Pooh book..christening present.
£8;000 apparently.....
Maybe a little bit too expensive for me, I'm afraid,
I ent got a spare £8,000 just for  a book.....
So for now , my grandkids will just have to have run of the mill ones...lol

I think that Sutton Park is an off-shoot of the Sanctuary at Sidmouth?
