Has anyone got spare/surplus pills please?
« on: June 30, 2018, 03:54:40 PM »

Hi
Has anyone got any unwanted, spare or leftover tablets of Elleste Duet 1mg sequential HRT please? It's the 16 white tablets (oestrogen only) and 12 green tablets (oestrogen + progesterone) in each packet.

Desperate to avoid overnight menopause when I run out of the pills I have - I've been on these for the past year, feeling great on them but docs refusing rational conversation and follow Dr Currie's recommendation so I will have to go privately but waiting times are 2 -4 months so I need something in the meantime.
Thank you

You need to see your prescribing Doctor.

Sorry AndieKC, I've just checked feeling sure I had some left but must have returned them to a pharmacy to dispose of. I hope someone else comes up trumps for you.

Hi Robin, Annie0710 and Sheila99
Thank you
I have looked at the The Independent Pharmacy it's called, they do seem legit, have all the regulations etc. I filled out the form and it does seem possible to order as I already have a prescription for Elleste so I'll do this if I don't get anywhere with Monday GP appointment. It's not the ideal meds as I need to have my progesterone but at least it will hug me more time until I get a private appointment with one of the meno specialists
Thank you all xx

Hi sheila99
Thank you for the offer, if all fails I might take you up on your offer if still available.

Seriously, why do doctors put us through this? I can't help thinking there's so little sympathy for menopause symptoms, as if I was complaining about something trivial.

Thank you for your support sheila99, it makes such a difference to my mental state just knowing that I'm not alone and that there other women who understand

Xx

Hi andie if you get your Mirena coil fitted and you can get the oestrogel or patches from the online pharmacy then that's all you need you shouldn't need to go to the expense of seeing a private meno consultant then unless you really want to.good luck anyway.I would also be happy to send you a can of the oestrogel if it helps calm down your anxiety until you can source it yourself just pm me your address xx

Hi Daisydot
That's so kind of you
May I ask you a few questions please, hope you don't mind?

Did you always source your own estrogen gel online/other than directly by Gp prescription? I.e. is it possible long term?

Does the gel stop hot flushes? And palpitations etc?

Thank you

Hi Andie no I was precribed it by private meno consultant and I had difficulty sourcing it which was why I went to Harley street pharmacy then my consultant sent letter to nhs gp and battle commenced lol.I now get it on nhs but had a long protracted battle as gp wouldnt agree to it because I was 60 so i had to be nasty and go the official route of complaint with my consultants back up.the stress I went through to get where I am now was surreal. No one can tell you how you will feel or get relief from which symptoms it would be wrong to do that we can only tell you our own experience of hrt.in my case within a matter of days (on my third regime I tried) the sweats disappeared completely, that was on one squirt a day of oestrogel but i have no womb so its pretty strsight forward for me its all trial and error so don't dive in expecting miracles because it won't necessarily work for everything and you may also get some side effects as some of us are experiencing right now.all I can say is give the mirena and oestrogel a try but be patient because it all take time for your body to adjust.good luck x I'm off out to the lake for breakfast now xx

Hi
Sorry but I agree with CLKD, you should never share prescription meds with anyone else. Even if the reason for delay seems to be the docs dragging their feet, there might be a legitimate reason. It's not that I'm not sympathetic but it's a potential safety issue.
