Estrogel and utrogestan update
« on: July 01, 2018, 08:41:23 PM »

I've now completed a full cycle on the above regime, and am 7 days into the second cycle.

So far, the estrogel- as far as I'm aware it's working fine. I'm used to applying it and it seems to work for me.

The utrogestan - I've taken this vaginally , though the tablets I have say for oral use. I've taken 2 x 100mg each night for 10 nights. For the first 5 days of this I had an unpleasant chalky discharge the following day, like when you've used a canesten pessary. For the remaining 5 days I had the same but also during the night I was woken a few times by the feeling of wetness, I thought I must be bleeding but it was a clear sticky liquid followed by the chalkiness the next day. Any ideas why this happened?  On the plus side I've had no pms type symptoms, tiredness etc but this wetness and chalkiness hasn't been nice and I'm wondering if I want to put up with this for 10 days out of every 28.

Also, I'm now 7 days into my next cycle and had no bleed as yet. I've a feeling my own periods are back and are overriding the hrt cycle. Last month I bled out of sync. And I'm starting with a migraine today (migraines went away on femseven patches) which I also got last month. Which I suspect is my ‘real' period about to start. Should I adjust my hrt to fit with my cycle? I felt ovulation pain too this cycle.

And as I'm happy with the estrogel, but thinking the utrogestan might not work for me , what are my options? I don't want a mirena coil. I'm not sure how I feel about taking the utrogestan orally. Is there a progesterone only patch?

Yup - same here - I don't notice discharge cos I do wear a panti-liner every day (ultra-thin discreet) which I change during the day depending....  ::) . For me this is far more preferable than the alternative - taking it orally ( not that I've tried though - but would probably need more of it to do the job!).

Tricky to adjust the HRT to sync with your cycle - unless it was pretty regular when you started the HRT - since the very  nature of peri-menopause is that periods are irregular so no sooner than you might have synced in you might sync out again if you see what I mean. You have my sympathies re the migraines.

Are your Utrogestan small ball like tablets.Im thinking of changing to vaginally rather than orally but am baffled. How can it break down when administered vaginally

Hello Burchers,
I have answered this on your other thread. The capsule is a sort of jelly (Gelatin Glycerol) and Sunflower Oil and it melts down at internal temperature.

Hello Jaylou,
Maybe you could take one 200 mg capsule instead of 2X100 mg. That would decrease the amount of the excipients and the white jelly capsule. Or you could take only 100 mg as many women do as long as you keep monitoring your endometrial lining by frequent scans.
