I wish someone would conduct a study into the use of testosterone in women, to enable clearer guidelines to be drawn up. It makes me frustrated that some women are struggling to get the opportunity to even try it, then of those of us who do get the chance, most of us are prescribed a formulation designed for men, and even then, it can be hard to find a pharmacy that stocks it, and finally.... if you've actually got your hand on the stuff it takes some trial and error getting the dose right!
I absolutely agree there Wilks - I think most of us do! The very frustrating thing is that there was a product available and tested for women - the Intrinsa patches - which were introduced briefly for a few years and withdrawn some years before the NICE Guidelines (can't remember the exact dates) but they were withdrawn for commercial not safety reasons. Given the increase in off-licence testosterone prescriptions being made for women both privately and on NHS you would think there should be commercial gain in reintroducing them.
I am wondering if anything is being done about this - if anyone sees Nick Panay I am sure he would know as would other gynaes and GPs who prescribe it regularly I'm sure eg Lousie Newson? Perhpas if any members are seeing someone eminent soon and are being prescribed T they could ask this question?
That's great Wilks I'm pleased for you it's quite laughable that viagra can now be bought otc, boots have a huge promotion in our store on that, yet women have to pay horrendous amounts privately for it,I've had no sudden urges as yet it would be lovely if that happened but right now it's not top of my list,I probably have had such a low sex drive for so many years I've kind of accepted my lot now but my husband is still as up for it as ever lol.we all know there's more than one way to skin a cat though lol.
I'll pribably get told off now and shifted to privates column lol.
- no need to worry - topics that you have started will only be moved if you want them to be. Sometimes members start a topic without realising it can be seen by all and sundry including maybe the person they are discussing, or if the topic is delicate in some way
, so are relieved to have the topic moved! Incidentally for me the urges haven't changed especially through use of T but the response has improved immeasurably
