morning ladies I've beem on the testosterone gel 2% for 6 days now,he recocommended half squirt for first week then 1 full squirt for next two months.ive been using a pea size squirt every second day rubbed on outer thigh.
I don't know if it's coincidence or not but I've had such a crap week,I'm waking very early feeling anxious and upset about nothing,my ankles are killing me and  bottom halves of legs feel week and achy,I feel really rat arsed which is not me at all.Im also crying at the drop of hat which again is not me.
Could this all be a side effect of T this early or not has anyone else on T had a quick reaction to it.Any thoughts welcome please xx

Hi Daisydot

Sorry to hear youu are feeling rough.

May I ask what you mean by a "squirt". Is this a full amount from one depression of the pump ie one pump? If so you probably should only take this amount 3 x per week or every other day. This would be the same as a making a tube of Testim or sachet of Testogel last for 10 days and you probably wouldn't want more than that if not in surgical menopause ( ie no ovaries no womb).

Most of us in your position - post-menopause, a bit older  ::) (and some younger!) have been prescribed a pea-sized blob daily of 1 % gel. So ideally you would work up to using a pea-sized blob (of Tostran = 2% gel) every other day.

However it depends on the size of your peas! Petit-pois or marrowfat!!!!

I'm not sure whether overdosing would make you initially anxious and upset - however I have looked up the side effects of the Intrinsa patches ( which were marketed for women until withdrawn for commerical reasons) and all sorts of potential side effects are listed - but many of them are rae. It also doesn't say whether these are long term or short term - eg hirsutism and voice deepening are defo long term! I'm posting the link in the hope that it works:
http://www.ema.europa.eu/docs/en_GB/document_library/EPAR_-_Product_Information/human/000634/WC500034390.pdf

However you said you've had a crap week so if this was nothing to do with hormones or a bug then perhaps whatever was crap could make you feel anxious - life events, circumstances, ups and downs which we all get from time to time?!

Anyway hope the symptoms settle soon, and if you're off on hols - (where are you going?) then have a lovely time and don't worry about hormones (or this forum for that matter!!!) :)

Just wanted to add that my testosterone cream (Androfemme) like the intrinsa patches is specifically for women and doesn't include those symptoms as side effects on the leaflet x

Morning Daisydot it was Dr Newson who prescribed and the pharmacy at the hospital there have it. I did read somebody else saying it was stocked somewhere down south too. I think patients of Dr Newsons can order to have it delivered xx

That's great well done I've emailed the pharmacy GipsRL recommended in London to see if they stock the stuff I need and for a cost.I increased the oesrtogel last night at teatime to 2.5 and funny enough I don't feel so low this morning so again coincidence or not? It does make me wonder sometimes lol.xx

That's great news Daisydot. I don't think it will be a coincidence. I think some of us need more than others and that's still only a medium dose I think so not excessive. Hope it continues x  :ola:

I wish someone would conduct a study into the use of testosterone in women, to enable clearer guidelines to be drawn up. It makes me frustrated that some women are struggling to get the opportunity to even try it, then of those of us who do get the chance, most of us are prescribed a formulation designed for men, and even then, it can be hard to find a pharmacy that stocks it, and finally.... if you've actually got your hand on the stuff it takes some trial and error getting the dose right!

That won't happen Wilks we are way down on the important list these days,if it was a sexual thing for men then yes they'd be well up for investigating but we are still in the dark ages for women and sexuality. The testosterone is wrongly regarded as a solution that every hormonal woman wants to improve their sex lives, that's not the case at all.We want it to help balance out our other hormones as rightly or wrongly we feel it's the missing link, there's also no guarantee it'll work for everyone,my consultant said it may do nothing at all for you but you'll know in three months to six months and if not we can just stop it again. If it helps my libido great if not then that's life but I'm hoping it just balances me and keeps me a bit more stable and less anxious.x

I started taking it in late March and it's helped with brain fog, energy and my libido. All of those things are important to me, but even if a woman “only” wants to see if testosterone will improve her sex life, that should be viewed as important in itself. Some women aren't bothered by that, but many are, and there's loads of evidence that having an active sex life is good for your general health and well being.
