HRT advice
« on: May 01, 2018, 06:19:50 PM »

Hi, I'm a newbie to HRT! Have been prescribed Elleste Duo 1mg, I'm suffering really bad with anxiety at the moment and am on Mirtazapine 30mg. I'm supposed to start HRT next period which should have been 29th April, but nothing yet!! Does anyone know if you can start taking the tablets before period as I'm getting more anxious waiting. I think some of my anxiety is caused by the menopause.

Hi aquarius its all so confusing isnt it.  My friend Debs is on elleste duo and hers run alongside her period.  If you cant get hold of the doctor to ask why not try a pharmacist who would be able to advise you.  I had no periods for years as I was on the merina coil and therefore had no idea that the menopause was on its way until it plunged me into a horrible depression.

I am sorry I am not much more help but when the hrt kicks in you will start to feel better as I am now.  YOu will get there!!

Take care xx

Hi
Have the anxiety got worse while on mirtzapam I ask because I was in the same antidepressant, never suffered anxiety until I was put on it , I'm now if it 7months and anxiety has got less it's still there just not as bad ..
I've been put on Everol Conti patches just 3weeks ago and they're working great for hot flushes
I've saw a lot of people say about starting mirtzapam and anxiety has got out of control , nit saying this is what is happening to you but just a thought

Hi, finally started Elleste Dou HRT today, keeping my fingers crossed that I works! You asked about the mirtazapine Kaz and I don't think it's helped me at all. I'm on 30mg at night and have been now for 12 weeks!😔😔 doctor has referred me to see mental health nurse next Tuesday and I'm going to say I want to be taken off the mirtazapine. Hoping by then also I will be able to see if the HRT is working. Xx

Hi, are you still using the Mirena as part of your HRT?

Have you missed many periods Aquarius? Sometimes you just have to start HRT otherwise you could be waiting a while. If your periods go out of sync with the HRT, then you can tweak which part of the pack you are taking so that they tie up. If your anxiety was due to menopause - ie new onset with no other reason for it then you shouldn't have been prescribed the mirt... anyway - as ADs are not indicated as first line of treatment for menopausal symptoms so I can understand why you want to come off them. Yes it is better to get the HRT dose and type sorted first if you can and then if you do have ongoing problems unrelated to menopause which the HRT will not alleviate - then is the time to look at other options - behavioural or possibly medication if you cannot cope.

I hope the Elleste Duet works for you - I presume you have been gvien the 1 mg?

Started HRT today Hurdity, Elleste 1mg. When I saw doctor back in January she said I was suffering with anxiety and depression. We had recently lost our pet dog and a close uncle died. I was also unwell with ear and sinus problems and been to the doctors no end of times with different prescriptions. I'd mentioned about the menopause then and she told me to go on this website basically. I was having hot flushes and night sweats. I think that all these things combined caused the anxiety and that's why she prescribed mirtazapine, desperate to get off them and they don't seem to be helping with the anxiety. X

Hi Sue

Yes I am still using mirena for the progestorone.  I am a year into this one so okay for another 4 years, then I have been told by the menopause clinic that I can have another one fitted when that runs out.  That one would be my 4th mirena coil.  The first two being for contraceptive purposes.
