Thank you dancing girl for your advice I shall follow it to the letter and report back with my progress.

Not sure I could apply live yoghurt though CKLD it's enough dealing with the discharge - too messy for me!!😆 I do eat it though.

I agree that women are very reluctant to talk about it and doctors seem to either dismiss it or are very vague. But talking about it on here has been so helpful and reassuring for me so yes I agree we should get it out there by whatever means to help others suffering in silence.

Must be LIVE - natural yoghurt isn't necessarily live  ;).  It isn't messy.  One applies as much as is comfortable, I lay on a thick towel after my evening bath ...........  :D

So glad it seems to be working Westie- let us know how you get on as it would be so helpful for ladies who have this to see a solution.

It has Machair! I've used it everyday  for 5 days and it seems to have done the trick. I have got a repeat prescription for the estriol cream and will start the reload. I have also got some Yes vaginal moisturiser which was recommended to me which I will use intermittently once I've finished the reload.

Hope all that works! I'll update in a couple if weeks. Thanks for asking and for your support. This forum as I've said numerous times before, is a life saver.

Hello ladies

Just thought I give an update following all your helpful advice.

I took the Actigel straight away for five days and it made a huge difference, I felt a lot more comfortable and the discharge stopped. I have just finished the two week reload of the estriol cream. I have noticed that although I wake up at night with the dreaded hot flushes, I am no longer dying to go for a wee and can go through a whole night without so am assuming the VA was really irritating my bladder and the cream is doing its job.

I will now revert to the cream twice a week interspersed with some 'Yes' vaginal moisturiser and see how I go. Have not attempted sex in last few weeks - too messy with all that cream , ;D ( sorry if tmi) but hopefully when I do it'll be a lot more comfortable. I'll let you know!

CKLD I am also eating live yogurt as you suggested to help keep everything in balance- although I'm only eating it, can't face putting it anywhere else ;).

Thank you so much ladies for your support

Good to hear Westie - I think we should put together our own leaflet with all the strategies needed to manage urogenital atrophy - the NHS is certainly not going to do this!!!!  Multi Gyn Actigel is great for getting the flora balance back but don't use it all the time - once or twice a week is good and particularly after sex.

As and when you do attempt sex, I find Durex ‘Perfect Glide' is fab for making everything more comfortable and pleasurable - you can get this online - it's rarely in the shops. You really shouldn't have sex when you've just applied the oestrogen cream as you don't want your partner getting a load of oestrogen!!!

Hope things continue well. DG x

Thanks DG yes I agree we really should all put our strategies into a book! This forum has certainly helped me far more than my GP!

And don't worry I won't attempt sex straight after using the cream, my husband has already made the point that he doesn't want to start growing boobs!!! ;D ;D
