Hi Dotty

As peri says - low oestrogen will be the cause of your symptoms. Following the last period oestrogen falls on average (fluctuates a little still) for the next approx two years and some women only start to experience symptoms at this point or they worsen.
Usually 3 months is suggested to try HRT or a new type - in order for side effects to settle and the benefits to be experienced. Some women do find that continuous progestogens (that you get in conti HRT like you are taking) make them feel groggy, irritable, depressed or give them pms symptoms. If that's the case you can try another one as peri suggests or esle perhpas take a cyclical HRT - but the disadvantage is that you would get a withdrawal bleed (like I still do in my 60's!

)
Other ways to help you feel better are lifestyle measures including losing weight if you need to, eating healthier diet, reducing alcohol, stop smoking (all if necessary!) and above all lots of exercise especially in the open air, and reducing stress
