Hi Ladies
I went to see gynae yesterday to see if she could establish a link between my daily headache, migraines at ovulation and period, and dizziness. To say I am disappointed is an understatement!! I had specifically asked before I booked the appt if she was familiar with hormonal migraine and I was assured that she was. She listened to my story which has been going on since last Sept, she reviewed my blood results and concluded that my symptoms are atypical.....she did a transvaginal ultrasound and assured me that I don't have any cysts, fibroids etc and that was reassuring.
She said the only way to know if my hormones are triggering the headaches is to suppress my cycle - she offered me an injection (can't remember the name of it) which would likely give me hot flushes or she said I could go back on Cerazette to suppress my cycle to see if that helps. I explained that my eyebrows fell out before on Cerazette but she said this may have been coincidental as she hadn't come across that before. She said there isn't anything in my bloods to indicate menopause and that a slightly raised FSH of 12 is not overly concerning and that I am still having a regular cycle albeit some months it's 27 days and others it's 26 days. Also this started last year aged 47 and my Estrogen level of 191 on day 3 is ok with her - she said unless Estrogen is lower than 100 on day 3 she wouldn't consider it as perimenopausal.
So given that I have tried and failed a number of drugs from the neurologist, she suggested I try the Cerazette to see what it does to my symptoms - her thinking is that Cerazette would take my hormones out of the equation by suppressing my cycle.
I guess I am scared that the Cerazette will reduce my Estrogen so low that it will trigger hair loss again and other symptoms associated with low Estrogen. A friend of mine who is aged 49 and was having really heavy periods was put on Cerazette by her GP and he didn't do any Estrogen bloods on her beforehand so perhaps I shouldn't worry too much?
What do you think?
