The pain was the 1st 3 days of each bleed.  Mum told me it would improve once I had given birth, well I knew by the age of 8 that the World has never been good enough for my children !  >:(

Feminax helped.  DO U live alone?  There will be an emergency pharmacist open for urgent prescriptions, mayB have a. lookC if you have the energy - lists used to be published in local papers  ::).

How often are U taking Ibuprofen?  When I had extreme headaches I would swallow 2 followed by an extra tablet 1 hour later which eased symptoms.

Yes that’s my worry… my pain continues after my bleed has finished. I live rurally unfortunately but my hot water is comforting.

Could it be endometriosis which can be difficult to diagnose.  MayB make an appt with the Nurse Practitioner for the New Year to discuss?  There are a lot of muscles in that area which may become bruised, is it cramping type pains or continual ache/pain?  My symptoms were both and awful.

I have an appointment on Monday so I’ll discuss it with my GP then. It’s dull to stabbing…

Thank you so much for your replies today 🩷

Same unfortunately… urine sample indicted an infection but no bacteria could be cultivated and I need to repeat it. Do maybe this isn’t to do with menopause at all. Very frightened really ..  :'(

It has been so good to come back on here and read this thread, and all your experiences,  i didn't realise i had posted on it once before! I'm so wrapped up in this menopause and all it brings, health anxiety has definitely taken over and im tired of feeling scared and anxious about symptoms! I can relate to so many of you on here regarding age and menopause, im now 59, seems like there's been one thing after another, now im having a bleed after not having one since last April, my GP has said its definitely not normal at my age and has referred me for a 2 week appointment. I came off HRT last April ish after that period so i thought i was done. I'm beside myself with worry, especially as like some of you, the GP was not reassuring. It's so hard because you feel so alone in your worry and i always tend to catastrophe things since going through menopause! :'( :'(

Reading back on my posts, I can see that I was overthinking. It’s so hard not to at age 57.5!! I have had every test going after my last reply, and had another bleed since too. But my scan was fine, urine, bloods etc etc and we can now confirm that it was a hormone imbalance with me kicked off by changing HRT method.

Due to the intense pain, I had ended up in A&E and then admitted on to the gynae ward. I had a registrar examine me and she said that she believed I was perimenopausal.

I appreciate that you’re not on HRT and while it helps to understanding bleeding to a certain degree, you can still have bleeds occasionally at our age. I still haven’t reached the magic 12 months free of bleeds and maybe I’d be like this without HRT too.

Best to go through all of the tests of course though. But I hear you 🤗

Pinkwindsor - how do U feel now?

Perimenopause can throw in occasional bleeds as ovaries may kick out hormones.  Once investigations come back 'nil of note' then symptoms are 'normal for you'.

I’m fine now thank you and yes I appreciate that the perimenopause can do that. The thing is that at this age, we’re not entirely sure what stage we’re at, as everyone thinks we should be past it by now 🦄

Medics still believe that women can't be peri because they are 'too young' or not bleeding as they are 'too old'.  Some medics really need to keep up!

Hi All,

A quick update, i have recently started with a nutritionist because of how rough im always feeling with the menopause and ive paid for some private tests, one of them was a blood test which i had last Monday. i contacted her yesterday after the bleeding to ask if she had any results and if there was anything showing on there. She has just come back to me and said my bloods indicate that im not technically in menopause yet - FSH is in pre-menopausal range and oestrogen raised too - she said it looks like i may have been ovulating around the time of my blood test, i will obviously discuss with the gynae, as planned, when i get my appointment, but it may just be a 'rogue' cycle! My GP was adamant this does not happen at 59 and i came away in total panic, i still have an incoming appointment but i really hope this post can help all you over 55's, like your posts have helped me.

GPs are that: general practitioners.  Many still have no idea about peri/menopause  >:(

Hi again, my relief was short lived! Ive been trying to research bleeding and my symptoms after the blood test results i had done privately and now im convinced i have ovarian cancer! From what ive read your oestrogen going up could be a tumour on your ovaries, so now im not sure it's just a period. I honestly do not know what to do with myself.....has anyone had anything similar??

Step away from the internet!!

My Mum had ovarian cancer and there are a lot more symptoms than that! Besides, your consultant would have detected CA125.
