Has anyone else tried Resveratrol?
« on: May 21, 2017, 07:08:44 PM »

Hi everyone

Resveratrol, for those that don't know, is an antioxidant supplement.  Some theories suggest it slows down the ageing process, others say that you can't get enough for it to do that currently (but it's being researched).

Either way, I was looking it up (I tend to look up herbs and nutrition stuff) and I stumbled on some bits of information suggesting it helps with peri menopausal symptoms, in some women.

Well, I've been taking it for the last 3 days and I can honestly say my burning face has gone.  It's too soon to know if it is the resveratrol, it might be another hormonal shift going on, but I thought it was worth mentioning and asking if anyone else has tried it.  Or knows any more about it?

One other thing, I've started drinking Tulsi Tea (holy basil).  So, I thought I'd better check that out to see if there was anything there...and apparently it lowers cortisol levels.  So I don't know if it's that....anyway just thought I'd share.

What's an anti-oxidant when it's up and dressed  ;D.  As for basil, can't stand the smell  :-X

I don't know how much of these one would require in order to gain benefit but keeping hydrated is never a bad thing ;-).

LOL! Love that!  Well, re the basil first.  It's not basil...it's holy basil....which is a relative of mint.  So the tea has an unusual taste, I like it.  But it was only when I read that it was a relative of mint did I notice there was something similar, although it's not like mint at all.  Mint is much too strong.  This is nothing like it, but you can tell it's a member of the family once you know.   ;D  I am such a herb geek!

Anti Oxidants are just things that keep the body healthy.  A quick answer would be, you know if you squeeze a lemon on a cut apple to stop it going brown?  Well the brown is where it's oxidising.  Lemon functions against that, so it's an anti oxidant.

Fruit and veg contain loads of anti oxidants and apparently that's why they're good for us, stop us oxidising, and ageing, lol.

Resveratrol is just one of them.  I still haven't had a burning face since taking it, but the real test will be tomorrow as I'm on a long commute and it's a really full on day.  That'll be the test, lol

Sounds very healthy!

Sorry for being a bit of a herb geek, lol (and nutrition geek, I don't actually always walk my talk either!)

Since being on this resveratrol I have felt better.....it's been almost a week now...I'll try and find the stuff I was reading online about it.  I've had a bit of a red face here and there, BUT unless I see myself in the mirror, I'm not aware of it.  I'm not getting any burning....

but it may just be the wrong point in my cycle, we'll see, lol
