Doctor thinks I am nuts
« on: May 04, 2017, 10:36:46 AM »

Hi all, thanks so much for your support when I had my white knuckle ride. Saw the doctor today explained everything, steroids for my Lupus failing to work, Utrogestan making me panic when I was fine mentally. Told her about the intrusive thoughts. Explained they went away when I came off HRT.

She basically said I was mental. What happened can happen with Steroid ( which I know) However there is no Meno clinic. Yes I may also have a chest infection as my 2 month long lung pain has not gone but it will clear up.

Basically, you are nuts. Go away, take the Utrogestan and if it happens again come back. If it doesnt " ohh well".

Wish I had never gone  :'(

I've had this too - you can read my posts if you'd like the full story! Frankly, it's a disgrace. So many GP's are treating ladies terribly who seek help with menopause, and it does lasting damage. I have every sympathy for you and I'm so sorry you've been treated so appallingly!  :'( xxxxx

Bless you Tempest. She knows nothing. I asked her  "How can this be exactly like my Post Natal and me just taken Progesterone and it not be hormonal.?"...."hmm well" she replies. I am gutted. Steroids can cause all kinds of hormone issues. She just thinks I am looney tunes.

I will deffo read your story xx

Do you have a choice of docs at your surgery.  If so just see someone else.

Some doctors just don't listen to their patients. >:(

Yes but she is my designated Dr  :'(

If you ask for a different Dr they say you are Dr shopping or they will tell me to go to her. My GP was soo good. He retired last year. This woman was the one who said to me months ago. "I dont know if you get a bleed on Utrogestan, Its just not something I prescribe"

I am so sad you went through that Lil. I know its not me. They told me for 10yrs I had ME then FM but no disease as it was all psychological. I said I had Lupus and after 10yrs got myself to the Lupus unt at St Thomas's. Top man in his field said every symptom I described is consistent with Lupus.  ;) I know my body

I am skrewed Sparkle  :'(. I know when I am beaten. Shes a hard head and its a small practice. If I kick off then no Dr will indulge me. As I know so much they think I am a pain in the a** . I can feel it when i see them, each of them. My old GP trained GP's and he knew I knew my stuff.

All I can do is stay the heck away from them.

This makes me so CROSS spitting feathers for you . Your NOT mental your bodies in a state of absolute termoil from hormones.

Shouldn't be allowed to practice , with that attitude, and mental health is supposed to be a big government campaign.

I have also had a 2+ week of Prednisolone  :-\. I know it wreaks havock with hormones as its a hormone. I have had pleuratic pain for a month..She dont care...

Years ago like you Lil I would have gone in with hope. Thank God I didnt have any hope. She even refused to give me my pain killers...System thinks I take 4 a day and I take 8. I am in pain. She said she will have a look later as she has no time....

My daughter said I should just become a Dr lol

Thanks so much ladies for being there. I would have crumbled

Wow she sounds awful, is there anyone you can take next time so maybe they can step in if she comes across like she doesn't care.
You sound like a tornado of hormones has hit, you've had awful things going on in your head, I'm sorry but she should do her job and listen, she should really be having you in every fortnight to check how you are. Xxx

I get appalled by some of their lack of compassion

Right at the beginning of my peri I was in turmoil not understanding  exactly what was going on.  I saw this old biddy who snapped at me "I have to tell patients they are terminally ill and here you are crying because your gums are painful and you're exhausted !"
I refuse to see the cow and would rather go untreated than see her face again

I have  never  seen my 'designated' doctor. She has taken over from her father who is almost retired and she is either never on duty at times convenient to me or isn't included in the timetable for appointments booked online. Not sure which of these is more accurate.

These stories are appalling and I am ashamed of the GPs in these posts.  No one should be treated like this, it is how women in hormonal turmoil were treated in our grandmothers day, sent to an asylum for mood swings  >:(

Patients have the right of choice regarding their GP and you do not have to see your designated GP. Do you have any opportunity to go to a different practice where they do not know you?  Is there one in travelling distance.  This is about you and your quality of life for the rest of your life, not about their feelings and their egos  >:(

Awwe Annie, I read you had a hysterectomy at 32. How can any Dr not be compassionate. That sucks and blows big time.

Personally I cant abide women GPs. Never had one who didnt look at me like I was alien

Your spot on lil. I did say to her, it was like a perfect storm for problems but it was hormonal. And ohh yeah she said Estrogen and progesterone wouldnt affect me within 2 hrs of ingestion or application. Well I dont believe that for 1 minute. She doesnt know I used the Utrogestan as a pesserie. Cant tell her, she wouldnt get it. She doesnt even know a thing about Utrogestan. She told me that herself.

Maybe then if the lung pain doesnt go away will try for a man. I really want to go to an endocronologist as I have Osteopenia too and they havent done the follow up dexi scan. Swept under the rug and labelled as looney tunes  :'(
