Living in a hard water area, its virtually impossible to keep our shower cubicle looking good. It has to be my number one hated chore. Given a choice I'd get rid of it in a shot and just use the bath. Fortunately I don't go in there in my specs, so can kid myself it looks ok!
I also think the only way is to wipe it down straight away. I use a microfiber cloth, then polish it with the window version when it is nearly dry. I give it a squirt with a peroxide based bathroom cleaner which is supposed to turn to oxygen and water after 10 minutes, to make sure black mould does not take hold, about once a month.
My husband is no board because he does not like having to reseal everything when it has gone black.
The main bathroom, I leave to the no-longer-teenagers. They are supposed to do it themselves and have all lived away (in student accommodation

) so should know what they are doing

But I WILL NOT clean it for them, even if the boyfriend is about to visit. I do put some bleach down things when I can't cope anymore though.
