Perimenopause and tinnitus
« on: November 28, 2016, 01:01:45 PM »

Hi,

I have been struggling for 12 months with all perimenopause symptons. Pain in ovaries at ovulation just right side, tinnitus right side, night sweats, ibs with nausea constipation, migraine, vertigo, dry and itchy eyes.  Moodiness, teary and downright getting sick of it all.
I have been ill for last two weeks thought getting better then last night no sleep from 1.30am wired but tired as someone said and now ibs has started again and feel sick.
My tinnitus is so bad.

My GP has given me mini pill protesgone only due to the headaches been on now for 12 days my mouth and lips are dry.

I am just 43 and started around 39 with panic attacks which have now gone but things have not been same since. My mum did exactly the same but she was given hrt and said was the best thing she ever did

Have been to hospital numerous times with one point they thought I have PID.

I'm anxious and seem to only get around 1 week a month were I feel somewhat normal.

Anyone advise what they think could help?
Is the feanolla making me feel worse

Thanks in advance

You need Oestrogen hon. I'm not sure how much or how often you'll need it as I'm not an expert but you should ask your GP for referral to a specialist clinic. I, like you get all those symptoms when low on oestrogen. I also get terrible sinus problems when low on E and my ears are almost screaming. Everything subsides with the appropriate oestrogen supplement.

Good luck.

Thanks dawncam

It's terrible feel like I am going round the twist.

I have a scan tomos to check my ovaries and back at docs after that so will ask them about oestregen. They are waiting to view my scan before referring me

They said the combined pill would make my headaches worse so have given me me that one with out the oestrogen in.

Here's hoping I can get some relief x

I hope so too hon. It's absolute miserable to feel all those symptoms. Sounds like they're onto it though and your scan will provide lots of info for them to base decisions on. Try and take as much info (write it on a list if it helps) on any patterns/severity in symptoms and when they subside as it'll give them a clearer picture of your cycle.

Good luck.

Been to docs had scan all clear but that's no suprise.  I have been in a and e again with severe neck head pain (migraines with dizziness). Potassium low back to docs now been referred to gyne.
Still constant pain on right side ovary like I'm having a period
Had irregular bleeds in nov 2 in space of two weeks.

Had another neck migraine attack yesterday lasting from 5pm to 1pm with anxiety thrown in oh and don't forgot the soaking wet from night sweats!
My tinnitus gets worse while the pain in ovary and head goes and seems to be constant.

Hi Pam, can't really tell you anything yet only been on the pill for 3 weeks but I am wondering if they making migraines worse but they say give it few months.
Hope your feeling ok with it all

I am struggling with work as I drive and in sales so trying to work at home and local

Hi Mazza

I'm really sorry to hear how unwell you're feeling. Could I suggest that you keep a daily record of your migraines: I know the docs like to try out meds and HRT for a three month period BUT daily migraines are no joke and usually you'll see a pattern really quickly if you keep a record. I've been there and written the mini series: with hindsight I would not suffer with daily migraine for three months if unnecessary. If it is the pill that is causing/aggravating them, see the doc and insist on trying something else.

I wish you well.

My ears are ringing almost constantly, I asked my husband whether he could hear it as it seems really loud.  Fortunately not in both ears at the same time!

Keeping a mood/food/symptom diary as suggested can be useful. Let us know how you get on!

Hi all . Hope everyone is coping. I am at the moment struggling with irregular periods, spotting of course nausea with it. I want to see if HRT is my options though I a bit lost with my options in regards to HRT. I hope everyone finds some solution and relief. God bless all.

I feel the same way,  all perimenopause symptoms,  anxiety,  mood swings,  but worst of all the ear ringing.  It all started a few months ago,  I'm taking low dose birth control,  it definitely helped anxiety and palpitations but ear ringing is still constant.  Have you tried anything that helped?

Oh the stuff we have to put up with!  I too have dreadful tinnitus in both ears and after 18 months of changing HRT to try things out have upped my oestrogen three days ago - the patience we need while we wait for changes to happen (if you'll pardon the pun).  So yes, I agree with Dawn, you need oestrogen and hopefully that will work for you.  Let's keep our fingers eyes and toes crossed (mine have been crossed for two flippin' years tbh!  LOL).

CLKD - what foods have you found help the tinnitus or is there nothing very obvious?  Interesting about the food diary.  I think I need to start doing that.  Need to constantly try stuff or not as the case might be.... ;D

Another one who's started to suffer from tinnitus as perimenopause really hit me. It's been two years and I'm starting to really link everything together, feeling very wired even though I have no reasons to feel anxious/excited, very poor sleep - I get through the motion, get to the point of closing my eyes and feeling very sleepy, and then suddenly am wide awake and after that, i can kiss good bye going back to sleep for hours -, heart rate that goes particularly low and then suddenly high, tinnitus and tingling in my fingers.

It got me really worried something was very wrong with me, was referred to ENT, then for MRI, blood tests etc... but I am now starting to recognise the pattern and link it with the perimenopause. All my symptoms are worse the times I do believe I might still be ovulating when progesterone makes an appearance and then disappear.

I tried hrt but it didn't help, I struggle even worse on and after the progesterone. I feel much better since I stopped and now just accept to live with it, reassuring myself it is bound to get better at some point!

I'm a victim of this peri hell that broke lose 7 months ago.  Like many of you, I  too suffer from tinnitus,  anxiety,  insomnia.  I'm not taking any pills anymore as it didn't help my periods or my symptoms.  What are you doing that's helping you with all these symptoms especially tinnitus?  I see some posts from 2016, for you ladies my question is are you doing better,  did the symptoms resolve?

Hi ampat,

I have just come on here to write another post about ear problems and still the dreaded tinnitus!
So still found no relief 2 years on, i have been managing to cope really but last few weeks my ears are becoming very bad, with popping crackling sore inside and my throat sore a lot of the time.
I had blood tests before xmas as was exhausted and they found low b12 which i believe is also not good for tinnitus. I have had muscle pains vibrating foot and my periods are all over with severe moods. My anxiety is very much settled as i know that hormones are to blame.
I am seeing a new gynae this month who specialises in severe pms and pelvic pain so hoping he helps me to get the end of all this (preferably hysterectomy)
😁
I take no meds only naproxen when pains and head is bad, i am excercising and juicing just trying to be active and carry on when i can

I am now full of a cold and feel sorry for myself as my ears are screaming

Hysterectomy is not the Ball and Endall!  You may require hormones ......... unless it really is the source of your problems, then keep that Uterus!

I had the cold with accompany tinnitus, soggy R eye, then the cough began  >:(  ::)

There is a UK-based tinnitus group.
