My Testosterone Journey
« on: October 12, 2016, 10:15:22 AM »

I'm starting this thread as by hook or by crook I WILL get to try testosterone

So to begin with my only update is that my nice GP left a voicemail for me today asking to book a phone appt with her, she said on the voicemail that she's had a response from the NHS gynaecologist.  Given that I've not received an appt with them but they've contacted her tells me it'll be a NO, and that's me being realistic not pessimistic

Anything to do with my fight for T I'll post on here to help other ladies who are trying to get their hormones balanced x

Could be Keepgoing, obviously that'd be the best outcome ever but a gynae there told me last year there's nothing they can do to help with this '2nd menopause' of mine, as I've been on oestrogen since my hysterectomy in 1999, appalling really when I think back to the list of symptoms I handed him, knowing what I know now, they were the same symptoms as T deficiency

GP will either call me back this afternoon or Friday as she's not in tomorrow x

we'll blow me down and knock me over with a feather !

Lovely GP just rang, there's a new female gynaecologist at the hospital who she consulted and said her gut feeling is to try Tibolone, but GP put my previous concerns about that to her so she said she'll recommend Testim off licence and lovely GP said she'll get the prescription ready at the pharmacy!

I'm so happy!! This may be/not the missing link to my menopause misery but the chance to at least try is unbelievable !

Thank you everyone who has educated me and put your symptoms to make me realise I'm not alone and that there might be an answer for me and given me the kick to fight for a trial

Annie 🍾 Xx

Deflated ?
Something Hurdity wrote yesterday on someone's post hit me.  Something about it's not fair to spend the rest of their life laying on a sofa wiping away their flushes.  Well I've never had flushes but the no energy laying on the sofa really hit home.  I've spent 45-49 lifeless and now I've hit 50 I'm determined to get my life back x

That's brilliant news Annie. Hope your journey is like mine. I am on tostran tho and it's double the strength of testim and I was a bit wary but it's working for me, so just incase your journey is a bit slower don't worry cause it should build up nicely and work. Keep us posted xxx

Thank you so much Keepgoing, I think between reading yours and Hurditys posts it's really got me inspired

GP said "now please be aware that the specialist said your voice could deepen and you could grow facial hair" I said I promised to use the correct amount and will always be honest with side effects or indeed my progress if there's any.  This could be the start of a new trend in our town thanks to this sweet GP x

Great news Annie, here's to the new and revitalised you!
Now all I need do is persuade my gynae at my Oct 25th appt to let me try it. Hmm, I'll not give up though, especially as I know it can be prescribed.

So my GP *was* correct!

That's only if used in high doses
That's why I said to her don't worry I'll take the pea size dose
