tips for the heat
« on: July 19, 2016, 05:04:51 PM »

place your hands and wrists into a bowl of cold water
sit or stand with your feet in cold water to above your ankles
place a cold wet flannel on the back of your neck or throat

as the blood flows through the arteries and veins in your wrists, ankles and neck it cools your blood and makes you feel a bit better.  It works for me as extreme heat makes me feel unwell.

Great if there's water to hand.

Keep curtains closed when you leave the house, then try to open windows that are opposite each other to create a cross breeze

Place fans in front of open windows to distribute any air......

Our house has huge Windows and is really sunny so I closed all the blinds and curtains late morning and opened the windows and that's really helped.  We have ceiling fans in the kitchen and our bedroom and a big floor fan in the lounge.

We have a portable air conditioning unit but haven't needed it yet.

Put a bowl of ice in front of a fan, it soon cools the room down.
