Eight people now, apparently.  Eight innocent people who got out of their beds this morning, to live their lives normally.  I can't find the words.....

I agree the world does indeed appear to be going crazy - it's been a long time since we had a quiet news week!

Now 9 but the last may be an attacker. So soon after Nice.  Terrible news.

It's made me think. We were planning on a trip to Berlin next year, but where is safe nowadays? Scary world!

My son is on a school trip and in lockdown in Munich. Last we heard they were taken to a school for safety, but have police with them.

How scary for him. I assume he remained safe as we have now had confirmation that there was only 1 gunman and he is now dead.

In my thoughts Tinkerbell and family.

I am concerned about family members going to the USA soon but the recent troubles seem to be centred more on Europe

I hadn't heard that there was 1 shooter, that would be better news if true.  So much of posting armed Police in Cities …. like they were at the British GPrix …….. and now the Police want to destroy all video footage of the Nice atrocity, why?  Surely it's evidence …… unless the Police who didn't stop the lorry weren't Police

I am really impressed with the German police force, the children had armed escort for several hours until they were safely taken to hotel very late last night, at time of shootings they were in a restaurant.

We have also received very regular texts from school staff informing us of what is going on.
I think some of the girls were a bit hysterical, hope they are happier now.

That must be a relief.  The girls will be OK - better to 'get it out' at the time  - hopefully they will be encouraged to make a 'what we did' today entry to share their feelings.

You must be so relieved Tinkerbell. The German police are very, very good. My hubby is ex police & we once stayed with a German policeman's family whilst my hubby was studying over there. We got to see how they do things over there & were most impressed.

Did your son arrive home yet?

He is back on Friday, they are now in Berlin.
We thought the school were going to arrange to bring them back early yesterday, but as most parents were happy for them to stay the trip is continuing. But they have made some changes to the itinerary and assessing the situation frequently.
