Two weeks today I started using estriol vaginal cream and it's worked a treat. But six days ago I started taking estelle duet combi continuous. It seemed to work within a few days because my aches and pains and hot really calmed down but yesterday I woke with terrible headache more like pains in my head not a headache. I do suffer with migraine but it's not a migraine. Has anyone else experienced the same while just starting out on their HRT.

Hi yes I had the same thing. I had slight pains in my head form day 2 of starting Evorel conti patches and then horrendous pains like my head was going to explode about 2 weeks in. Thankfully it has all settled and Im in week 5. Good luck and try and give it time to get ptoperly into your system as hard as it is the side effects do seem to settle.

Thanks for that clare663, I really do want to persevere because the night sweats and aches and pains have starter to subside. I rang and spoke to my doctor this morning and she wants to check my blood pressure then she'll talk to me about what I should do. I'm willing to ride out the few little niggles because I'm sure I'll feel so much better in a few weeks time. Do you mind if I keep popping on here and asking you how your doing.

Nanadotty - I do think it's worth using a sequential HRT when starting out on HRT to see if a progesterone suits you or not - this would mean 2 weeks on oestrogen alone an then 2 weeks with both oestrogen and progesterone followed by a withdrawal bleed.  If you find you feel OK on the progesterone then you could switch to the continuos version which would eventually give no bleeds at all.
You might do better on something like Femoston (which comes as sequential or continuous) as the progeseronre in it is kinder so brings fewer problems.  I assume Estelle is in pill form?  You could try patches instead?  Dg x

Hi Nanadotty no of course I dont mind. either post on here or message me via here. Its nice to talk to people on the same HRT and see what side effects and good results they are getting. My blood pressure was still really good when I got it checked Monday so I dont think the headpain had anything to do with that.

Good evening Clare, just to let you know I've started taking my HRT again the doctor checked my blood pressure and it was fine so she said start taking it again and if it happened again she maybe try something different. I did have a bleed when I stopped taking it for a few days this was very strange because it's been two years since I last had one and I'm not sure if I want them back. The doctor did say it would settle down once it was into my system. I've got my fingers tightly crossed for good results.
Hope you're feeling well.
