Hi Littleminnie!  :)

Oh, we loved San Fran as a place - but it was extremely difficult to drive round, and the parking was crazy money, like $36 per day!  ???

It was great to see the bridge, clothed in the famous fog one day then in sunshine another, the streetcars were great fun, our teens hung off the side a few times!  ;D We liked seeing the seals at Pier 39, and Fisherman's Wharf was good fun.
We did Alcatraz on a night tour as well - that was fabulous, so atmospheric.

If you go I'd recommend paying to stay right in the thick of things, we made the mistake of staying just a little way out, but boy, those vertical hills are hard to walk up!  :D

We had 3 nights there then set off back towards LA via the Pacific Coast Highway stopping off at Pismo Beach and Monterey.....ahhhh.... seems like forever ago!

We had mixed views on Vegas, might be the hotel we were in. Where did you stay?  :)

If I carry on getting better hubby and I are talking about Corfu next Autumn  :)

Would love to hear from anyone who has been there

I've been to Corfu! Went for a week in April a few years ago and really enjoyed it - I love Greece anyway. We went to lots of different places - the mountains and the coast are amazing. There was a monastery up in the hills ?Paleocastritsa and we loved the NE part. Also Corfu Town is lovely. We went at the Orthodox Easter which that year was the weekend after our Easter and that was something else. Massed crowds in Corfu Town on Easter Sat hurling massive decorated pots from high up windows from buildings sometimes 6 stories high - all the windows had banners hanging form the balconies - and numerous processions of people dressed in robes carrying their saint's effigies or something in caskets like a sedan chair with brass bands playing music as they marched  - most bizarre. Also Good Friday - candle-lit processions. They make a big thing of it there.

What sort of things do you like doing on holiday?

Resting.  Reading.  Walking.  Watching the surf.  Museums.  NT Properties.  Avoiding anxiety  :-\.  Buying and writing post cards.

Hi Clovie, we stayed in a hotel near the airport. It was very quiet, not like the madness of the strip. We were only there 3 nights but we managed to fit in a show, Ceasers Palace and a meal at the Wynn restaurant and a bit of shopping :)

Holidays are my favourite subject  :)

I love Vegas, I've been twice and stayed in three different hotels - New York, New York, Planet Hollywood which were both fine (although in planet Hollywood there seemed to be some smell of cigarette smoke coming through the air con system in our room  >:( ) and the best of all The Bellagio, which was amazing, I could sit and watch the fountain shows all day (and night!) I also loved the public areas of The Venitain, the canals and St Marks Square are unbelievable.

This year I've already been lucky enough to have breaks in Northern Ireland, Disneyland Paris (which I love as much as 4 year old Bob does, maybe more!) and Legoland (it was OK, Bob enjoyed it which is the main thing.)
In August we're having a week in the Peak District and in October we're going to Madeira  :)

Early June, local organ society trip to London, to visit and try out various wonderful organs there.  Bit daunted (in illustrious company!) but really quite excited about the whole thing.   ::)
Early July, up north to visit our good friends in Inverness.   :)
Next year, Madeira.  :)

It makes me feel slightly queasy when I hear where you all be going ……. but I do enjoy 'seeing' the World through your eyes, places I can't go to !

You'll get some peace later this week, that is, if I'm well enough to travel  :-\.  Enjoy the quiet whilst I'm away  ;)

Not going now  :'(.  Unless I improve.  We were booked to travel to N Norfolk until Monday, back for 24 hours then off to mid-Wales.  I haven't the energy to lift a cuppa leave alone pack a camper van >sigh<
