Dazned, yes we have biometric passports. Read about what's been happening to some, who don't.

Off 3 weeks tomorrow. Cases out of loft. Now just trying to figure out my capsule wardrobe.  ;D

Plenty of pants.  Comfy shoes - buy them now and break them in!  Prescription cover for any medication you need to take.  Camera and plenty of film!

We are away soon  :-\

Film CLKD? I went digital ages ago.  ;)

Got really comfy shoes for walking in. Memory foam insoles. Prescription will be sorted week before. Oh & I'll be taking lots of pants. Got caught out year we went to Boston, luggage went AWOL, therefore so did my pants. Always in hand luggage now. Should have seen what I had to buy. My granny would have been proud!  ;D ;D ;D

Time's Square we're off to Dazned. Not sure how we'll sleep there, but then it is the city that never sleeps.

Hotel claims to be sound proofed!  ;D

Well we couldn't figure out why our return flight wasn't on online itinerary. I did lots of searching for flight from New York to Heathrow. Then checked timetable. Flight maybe existed when booked but no more. Had BA informed hubby? Nope! So he phoned this morning for them to say, there's a problem! NO WAY! Long story short, instead of heading home from JFK at 7.15am we now head home at 11.55pm, so more time to New York.

Although how airlines can justify charging nearly £50 per seat each way, just so we can sit together, beggars belief. After last experience 2 years ago when BA split us up completely because we hadn't pre-booked seats together, hubby decided not to take that risk again.

11.55 is a much better time to fly. We went business class (using air miles) and they wanted £80 each, each way to pre book the seats!

As an aside - how many of you buy locally when you go 'away'?  I tend to take enough grub for 2 nights in case I'm too anxious to go out to eat and once we've found the shops, cafes etc. it gets easier.  Those living in areas where there are many holidays homes often rarely used, have been heard to comment that 2nd home owners don't put money into the economy because they take their food etc. from their homes to the holiday home.

I always took the dog's food but expected the loo rolls, cleaning items etc. to be available when we were self catering.  When we go camping we tend to eat out when I can, having packets of dried foods in the camper.  We buy our newspapers each day when on holiday, I love the 'local' to where ever we are staying so that I can have a nose round what is 'for sale'  ;D

We R off next week  :o

OOh lots of exciting holidays ^^^^^

And many off to the States too!!
We are big fans of the USA and go quite a bit.
Shocking what's happened to some about the biometric chipped passport malarkey  :-\  I'm a member of another forum where this has been covered a lot of late due to those occurrences  :-\

We got back from LA, Vegas and San Fran 3 weeks ago, a distant memory now...... - but our next holiday is Disney Florida in October!  :D
AND we've booked for New York and a tour of the US desert areas for next October!  :D
AND we're booking to do 3 weeks doing the Florida Keys and the other Orlando parks next June after our teens finish studying - trying to pack as many holidays in while they're still at home and wanting to jet off with us  ::)

Love my holidays, my only vice really, - and I love reading about others plans too  :)

Go whilst you are able to!  Anxiety has stopped me going places for years but generally I am 'better' than I was.

What's that about biometric passports - a new thread maybe?

Hi CKLD,  :)
No probably not needing a new thread, as it just affects those going to USA.

The rules changed in April this year regarding what type of passport you could enter the States with. Seems some people who had booked a while ago, before then, (maybe a year or so in some cases) weren't aware of the changes and had issues entering USA with wrong passport type  :-\

Hi Clovie. What did you think about San Francisco? That's on our list.
We weren't impressed with LA, but loved Vegas.
