I have 2 questions

1. Has anyone found a type of HRT (patches perhaps) which is compatible with Tegretol? I am completely seizure free and am slightly reducing the dose now (as recommended by consultant) but I am aware that some types can't be used with Tegretol

2. Has anyone had any success with using HRT to reduce tight calves/aching feet? Country walking is my favourite form of exercise but is slightly spoilt. My main menopause symptoms like hot flushes are pretty mild and I can put up with them.

Hello Katejo.

Your post caught my eye as my feet have started aching, probably not helped by the fact that I walk  lot. I get pain along the top of my foot, starting from the big toe joint and the joint itself seems larger though not swollen so I'm wondering if it's a type of bunion. I was thinking of seeing  a chiropodist in the new year and  if I learn anything useful I'll put it on the forum.

I'll keep an eye out for your replies as one of the lovely ladies here may just have the answer we are looking for!

Wishing you well.

I do have a bunion on the left foot but not on the right.  Not sure why i got it as I have never been one for tight/uncomfortable/high shoes. It may affect it but isn't the whole reason. My tight calves started before the foot discomfort and it happened at exactly the same time as my periods were getting less frequent and much lighter.

Thanks for the comments though and Greetings for the New Year

I have had tight calves and sort feet  for nearly 4 years, which has been diagnosed as plantar fasciitis .....

Endless months of physio and using inserts from podiatrist have made no difference. I now have sore stiff muscles in all limbs and both hands and have concluded myself now that this is meno related.

I have been on full HRT for over a couple of years now and there has I am sorry to say been no improvement in muscles.

I am now of the opinion that this may be testosterone related and am planning on trialling this some time in the next few months so will keep you updated !

Hi Pollie

Yes do let me know if you have any success. I haven't tried a podiatrist though I did think of it. I am not helped by the fact that I have large feet anyway and the shoe sizes have generally shrunk! I take 7.5 or 8 but have occasionally had to buy a 9 because the 8 wasn't a true 8. I refuse to buy shoes mail order due to past bad experience.
