Woohoo Limpy!

I got an iPad and a lovely lingerie set from DH, a T-shirt from DD with 'I solemly swear that I am up to no good' on the front and 'Mischief managed' on the back, and 'Minions' & 'The Hobbit - Battle of the Five Armies' DVDs from DS. Happy as Larry.

I got a colouring book and an adult dot to dot book  :) but my best present was a pair of earrings that match a pendant I had for our silver wedding last June. Lots of owl things, my house us bursting at the seems with owls  ::)

However: the jumper which his brother/wife choose was too big, although a size 10 it obviously wasn't!  ………. as they had kept the receipt they offered to change it for another but apparently 'because of the sales' that wasn't possible.  So they bought me a 'top' what ever that might mean  >:( and during their Happy New Year 'phone call last night, I heard 'when will you next be visiting?' - well why would we know we're only back 36 hours  ::).  Then I heard his brother say "It won't cost much to post a jumper will it?"  :-\  :'(

This is my C.mas gift.  2014 my birthday present was, apparently, "too heavy to post" ……. that's without his brother even bothering to go to the PO to weigh it.  So it stayed in the box on our dining room table until Sept. when I sold it because every time I looked at it I remembered his words.  I expect I will feel the same about this 'top', 'it won't cost too much to post …… '  :'( Bugga.

The only present I got was a pair of earrings from the hippy mother of OH's 12 yr old daughter. The daughter lives with us. The mother I CANT STAND! So for her to be the only one to give me a pressie   :hotflash:

To be fair, OH and I decided no pressies as we have spent a lot of money on 2 flights to blighty in Feb. Yay!

Just wondered whether they were pleased with your choice. I had a jumper sized at a 10 but it's at least a 14 - so frustrating!

I couldn't care less if they were OK with our choices or not.  It's their attitude that has been the problem over the years; making me wait until C.mas to give me my birthday gifts …….. whereas however ill I was over the years they always got their gifts on 'time'.

I think that Companies are re-sizing clothing because the 1st World is becoming obese ……. :-\ - I had 3 items all marked size  10, only 1 fitted properly the others hung like a sack or were too tight  >:(

CLKD - Don't think you would have been happy with anything they gave you whatever it was.
What was it, you kept something on your table cos you couldn't face looking at it. Yes that sounds like an open mind.....................

It was an OK gift.  I had to wait until after my birthday before it was given to me and I liked it until: 'it was too heavy to post' ………. if they cared the thought wouldn't have crossed my B in L's mind and if they were bothered about the cost of postage, surely they would have bought something that was light enough to post, so that it arrived on time for my birthday.  DH's comment was just that, 'why not buy something lighter then?'

It is their way of keeping control ……… they used to tell us that by waiting until C.mas Day before giving me my gift, gave them 4 extra days to buy something  :-\ - but I have a birthday like everyone else, every 12 months and it doesn't suddenly arrive  :-\.  So the recent excuse is the weight of posting an item so that I get it in time for the event.  Which if one cares about someone the cost doesn't enter into the equation!

Over the years: 40+ : they have rarely chosen something suitable to give me.  When they know my hobbies and when over the years I have made suggestions >shrug< ……….. it got beyond 'it's the thought that counts' as it became obvious that very little thought went into their choices.  At least the birthday card was lovely ……….

During the 4-5 years I was unable to socialise, 1 birthday they bought me a handbag when they knew I couldn't go shopping ……….. the year after my dog died they gave me floppy slippers like puppies: "because they look like *******" : ……….. and expected me to wear them over C.mas ………… they went to Charity ASAP.

A book on cats when they know that I can no longer have pets due to anxiety …………. "Because you must miss yours" ………

DH and I tend to buy presents throughout the year ……….. suitable for the person it is chosen 4  ;)
