Over the years we have acquired a lot of "stuff", not helped by a few stints in furnished rentals / our stuff being in storage. When we did our last move but one we consolidated, and took some stuff to a boot sale, but we really didn't do a proper job and unfortunately when we moved into that house we managed to find homes for all of the "stuff". A year later we moved and I did the packing, which gave me an idea of the problem. I didn't have time to thrift when packing so when we arrived in this house I went through every box and got rid of everything I thought we didn't need. It took weeks and I had the local charity pick up on speed dial!
The only area I haven't managed to get downsized is the garage / workshop - that's DHs domain and he's a total hoarder (but not clutter - everything is neatly stored) so as I have reduced house content he has increased garage content

oh, and my clothes - I haven't worked for a few years but can't bear to part with my work stuff "just in case"
