Dazed and wobbly
« on: March 09, 2015, 01:40:11 PM »

Hello all
Spent most of this weekend feeling dazed and brain fogged. Pretty much a conversation behind everyone else at times and as if I'm just not really 'with it'. Also felt, and still feel, wobbly, as if it's an effort to do what everyone else seems to manage with ease; shopping, standing, walking. Feeling generally weak, heart poundy, anxious and shakey. Anyone feel this from time to time, either on or not on HRT? (I'm not on HRT just yet. Will be soon hopefully.) Am guessing it's the dip in hormones making me feel strange???. Haven't had a period for a few months so figure I'm lacking in oestrogen at the mo. Ho hum.

Hello HorsesHorses.

I am on HRT but I have felt similar to you lately. I am tired and anxious and generally feeling like all I want to do is lay on the bed and feel sorry  for myself. I'm also getting flushy and my heart is pounding a lot more than usual. Oh, and I woke up with a terrible headache this morning.

Hormones have a lot to answer for and hopefully we we'll both feel better soon.

Take care and let us know how you get on when you begin your HRT.

Thanks for your replies. Reassuring again.
Was having a conversation with a 94 year old gentleman at work yesterday and he was full of beans and seemed rather energetic and healthy and i was sitting there, the 37 year old, feeling achy, tired and wobbly. Ridiculous!
Anyhoo, trying to stay positive and will remember to mention this weird spaced out/ not switched on feeling to docs next time I go. Here's the thing though, how are we supposed to know when the aches and pains are more than meno and a different illness?
CLKD, my diet's not bad to be honest. Been trying not to over do the dairy and favouring more veggies and fibre. I've never been a tea or coffee drinker so my caffeine intake isn't high either. Why do you ask? Do you think I could get this feeling if my diet's not the best?

Yep.  I get these feelings when my body is hungry  ::) - as a recovering anorexic-type I was many years when I didn't recognise hunger - I would feel all kind of woozy and Himself would shout 'eat'  :D …..

Spreading out your daily intake through 24 hours might help ease symptoms.  Grazing helped me a lot: dried fruits and nuts, slow release bananas, dry biscuits, Dextrose tablets, as well as the usual meals.  Why cut out dairy  :-\ ……. that's half my daily intake  ;D apparently  ::)

I begin the day with a round of toast with butter, black T 2 sugars; mid-morning is a cuppa with a chocolate eclair; lunch can be soup with toast, toast and dripping, cold meat salad, pasta mix and another cuppa mid-afternoon with a bananas, or half a grapefruit or a chocolate yoghurt pot.  DH cooks our meals from scratch most evenings - chicken curry with rice or pasta, or trout with pasta, mixed veggies with pasta/cheese ……..

If you keep a food/mood diary you will see how your diet can be tweaked to ease symptoms.  Let us know!

I can identify with this, and sympathise. It's really frightening. On several occasions I thought I was about to collapse and even gave my partner a list of my symptoms in case he found me unconscious (bit embarrassed to admit that!). The shaking/dizzy/'out of it' detached feelings began to get better when I started HRT - though took months rather than weeks. I have since moved onto Qlaira, which has more estrogen in it, and am quite shocked by how much better I feel psychologically. Initially I had extremes fatigue still, though this has subsided. Really hope you too get some relief soon x x
