Off hrt symptoms returning?
« on: February 08, 2015, 08:14:27 AM »

Hi well I've been off hrt about five or six weeks now and on the whole been ok, yes I get anxiety got it now I wake up every day thinking how am
I going to feel today on edge or ok, I can't tell you how much having my heart checked out has helped as I now think ok it's meno/anxiety not heart attack which scared the hell out of me, im sure there will still be times I'm convinced I'm
Dying of something though health anxiety doesn't go completely be nice to get everything checked out.

Still get my fainty I'm going to keel over feelings nd been for full blood count test waiting for results, though don't think that include blood sugar level?i did ask in a few chemists if they could do the pin prick test on my finger one said not in sat another said you have ton fast for better reading.

What I have noticed last few nights of off a sudden night sweats are coming back and I've had odd flush in the day too, rather than go back in hrt does anybody know what can help with this, I did take sage tablets before hrt which were just ok

Now scans have been sorted and I'm
Picking up perscrption for beta blockers tomorrow I want to start excercising again without being scared, trouble is I've become so unfit and weight had shot up between lack of excercise, meno and hrt, do will have to do it slowly, still having looked into yoga or cbt which are on my list.

To add to stress been told there may be redundancies as work being centralised could be months could be safe for a year being sine this is also v much on my mind :(

Any advice on night sweats controlling flushes please?xx

Hi Karenja, good to hear from you though sorry to hear things aren't great again. I have no experience of coming off HRT so can't be of much help. My guess would be that what you're experiencing is to be expected. Your estrogen won't suddenly start producing itself at normal levels, so if you have come off HRT, experiencing symptoms of low estrogen is inevitable?

I know people talk about herbs and supplements, but sadly, there doesn't seem to be loads of people on here saying they've massively helped their symptoms. If they did, they would be available on the NHS, I guess! I tried Menopace, but can't say it made any difference. In terms of self -help, now you've had the green light to exercise and know your heart's ok, that should help with the anxiety?

If things don't settle, would you ever try HRT again, or do you reckon it's just not for you? Am I right in saying it was only the progesterone part of HRT that caused you problems? If so, did you ever try Femseven with a transdermal progesterone which is better tolerated than other forms? Alternatively, lots of ladies on here have a Mirena fitted for progesterone. On the info to the left, it does suggest this is good for ladies who had adverse side effects with other forms, like you did.

Hopefully other people will come along with more experience and you will get some relief soon  .

Big hugs, B xxxx

Hi Briony

Thanks for your reply, I wouldn't say never to going back on hrt just wanted to try and manage without it and thought things were going fine, but your right Im not having the estrogen now so things were bound to change, I even thought I may have gone through the menopause when the symptoms or at least some of them had gone, but sadly no.

It is the progesterone that causes problems with me, I found the estradot estrogen patches fine, but I didn't like Ultrogestan and have also tried elleste duet, and two others (patches) names escape me now, I was given femseven but decided against that as I didn't find many good reviews on it, although I know everybody is different, oh I tried everol sequi as well, so would possibly try again just finding the right progesterone and of course its over a year since my last natural bleed now and and Im 54, so I suppose that makes a difference.

How are you doing? xx

I could be wrong, but I think the progesterone in Femseven is better tolerated than Evorel patches. I know when I was looking into these, I felt the reviews for Femseven Sequi on here were more positive than Evorel Sequi? How do you feel about Mirena? I know it's the GP's contraceptive of choice - though have to admit, I got all squeamish and chickened out the day before I was due to have one fitted! Xx
