Mother really ill
« on: January 22, 2015, 02:01:08 PM »

Oh heck not good at all. If she gets better from this it will be a miracle. She has such a bad chest infection. I think she should be in hospital to be honest but the GP didn't seem to think so.
Sis was with her when I got there and she had started to cough and then she choked and couldn't breath. She got a terrible fright and my sister thought that was it.
I was then left alone with her. I was very scared and really didn't like it one bit.

Very very worried

Of course you are.  Is the GP treating this with ABs, I think you said but I can't remember  ::).  What worries you the most?  Maybe she should have carers in at night?

At her age and with her problems ……..  :-\

Yes CLKD, she is on ABs.

She is so very very poorly.

Think we might need a bit of a miracle here but she has been a tough old bird so.... :-\

Sis and I might have to stay tonight. Not a job for one.

Best of luck HB. Hope all goes well for tonight. The ABs should kick in after a day or so. Let's hope.

Not the time to be fighting I think CLKD. Kind of focuses the mind a bit. Differences put aside.
I know my mother can be an old **** but oh heavens.

Thanks Bramble

Differences might rumble on - what time do you need to go back to see your Mum?

She is 92 Milly but who knows.

I will wait for sis to call. She is much nearer than me....five mins away so she is popping in and out all the time.

Sorry to hear your mum is really poorly HB! Better if the two of you with her tonight. But I would phone for ambulance if she chokes again. Differences azide, this is your mum & she needs you both. Hope your mum improves soon!

Can you get her to A&E instead of calling a doctor if she doesn't improve overnight.

Yes I suppose we could if we needed to. She wants to stay at home she says. We will try our best. Sis says she is no worse this afternoon.

My tummy is in knots....anxiety building. Just had such a lot happening recently it's hard to cope with more....and more.

Sorry to hear about your mum honeybun.

I absolutely agree that if she is having breathing difficulties due to her infection at that age surely she would be better looked after in hospital since if she had another attack like that - it might be too late and you wouldn't be able to help her in time....

I hope she is over the worst very soon.

Paramedics will give advice if necessary and the sufferer doesn't always require a hospital trip.  Lifting, assessment ….. when is the GP due to call again?

Just spoken to her and she says she is not better yet  ::)

She always wanted to be better yesterday and some things never change it would seem

:thankyou:  all for the good wishes. Fingers crossed. GP never suggested coming back CLKD, but we can call in the morning if she is worse.
