I might have missed something in the thread, but dizziness is often due to lack of hormones - that is, lack of HRT, rather than lack of sugar.

Sugar tablets and sugar drinks are not a good idea unless someone has unstable diabetes and needs a quite boost.

Hi Karen it took 6 months plus for me with HRT before I felt comfortable and back to near normal.

I'm not sure who advised the utrogestin but there are other options that should be easier for you.

A single tablet each day would be much easier to cope with till you get used to increased hormone levels.

If you want to switch back to your patches and utro later when you know what a 6 month spell on stable HRT feels like then that would give you a clearer picture of whats possible.

Couldn't agree more. It was lack of estrogen that caused my dizziness. It's calmed down so much since I've got used to the HRT. Now only got it occasionally, usually before I come on. Wish I'd known this before as it caused me to go from someone who ate really healthily and sensibly to someone who thought I 'had' to have sugar or else I'd collapse. Not good for the waist line, nor my self esteem  :-\

HI - well I cancelled my doctors appointment for one I felt so anxious I couldn't face it and the weather wasn't great we had sleet last night and the roads/pavements by me were lethal, I live in a very hilly area and walking down hills too the doctors would have ended up with me flat on my bum, and when my neighbour texted do you want a lift to work I accepted, going to see dr 26th now, so bit of a wait as I want to see a particular doctor the one that referred me for my scans and actually listened to me, strangely enough later on this morning I felt good until lunchtime when I had the funny head feeling again even after having a roll, I had to buy a yoghurt and stand and eat it outside boots to stop me feeling light headed.

This afternoon I felt ok again, even remarked to a colleague maybe the menopause has finished as Ive been ok really apart from the odd symptom (been off hrt a week today) still getting the light head feeling, then when I came home from work bad anxiety panic attack following pains in my chest (under my chest and down my left arm) which frightened me so I took an asprin as it sticks in my head when I rang 999 they told me to do that, prob anxiety and not anything I was thinking.

I haven't taken my starflower today would be my third day on it, does anybody know if I can take it after taking an asprin in the last hour (another thing one doctor warned me don't mix!, its horrible the anxiety coming back is it just after being anxious last night and now Im back in the house on my own again I don't know, when the panic attack passed I could feel like pins and needles in my face, horrible, sorry to moan again xx

Sorry you missed your appointment. I really think it's anxiety that's the problem.

Light headedness was a huge problem for me when my anxiety was really bad. Standing in a queue was a nightmare. I came to regognise it for what it was. Anxiety.
I take a beta blocker and St Johns Wort. I have read and still do self help books on anxiety to help me understand what's happening.

You can be pro active or not. It's really down to you now but when you have your heart tests and they are hopefully fine then you will know what is wrong and that you have to deal with it.

I know there is a lot of talk of low blood sugar. If you are well fed like most of us are then this really will not be an issue. Dextrose tablets give a quick high then a big slump. My hubby takes them in emergency situations until he can get to slow release foods. He is a type 1 diabetic.
If you eat properly three times a day and avoid junk food and lots of sugar then really you should not give your glucose levels another thought.
If you are concerned then some chemists do checks.
When I went through my light headed period I did check my glucose levels on my hubbies machine. I felt wobbly and my glucose levels were just fine.....as I said ....anxiety.

I definetly think anxiety as well light headed ness is a symptom, as HB said you can easily get your levels checked at your local pharmacy the majority do it nowadays ask in boots if it is near your work. When I felt like that llyods done it for me twice in one month  ;D just to put my mind at ease as we think all sorts! It may be harder for you if you live alone where as most of us have partner / family to distract us now and again. Wishing you well karenja

Also - I have a nerve in the back of my neck which makes me 'dizzy' if I bend my head backwards it makes me go 'oh' but is gone in an instant.

How did you eat today?  Grazing can help those fuzzy feelings ……… making sure that you keep hydrated and keep to regular eating patterns, you will eventually recognise the light-headedness for what it is - and realise that it won't harm you …….. when it happens, stand quietly and breath deeply; in through your nose, hold your breath, let out slowly through your mouth, 3 times.  It slows the autonomic [?] nervous system so that the person regains control.

Why are you taking aspirin ….. how do you take the sunflower oil?  I think you should consider keeping to a basic good diet, keep a diary of what you eat and when so that you see if there is a pattern?  If you haven't eaten in the night then you may well feel a bit 'odd' first thing - getting out of bed and starting the day can use energy so maybe having a biscuit before getting out of bed!  Finding out for yourself means you will regain control of your eating patterns.

As I said on a previous thread - you can take anything with starflower oil - it's not a drug or a hormone or a herbal remedy - it's a concentrated food supplement made from borage seeds.

Re blood sugar - as I also said before you would know if your light-headeness was such low blood sugar (symptoms) that you need to eat (sugar) immediately. As honeybun says most people who get this are diabetics but others (like me) get similar from time to time - sometimes known as reactive hypoglycaemia but this is unmistakeable if you get it - it is not just light-headeness so shouldn't be any need to eat all the time. I used to carry dextrose tabs when I got it a lot when I was peri - but only when I was walking about in town or something and would have fallen over if I hadn't had glucose quickly. It's not a thing to be taken all the time every time you feel peckish or a bit hungry or faint as it won't help to regulate blood sugar levels as honeybun says - it just brings them up quickly so you stop sweating and trembling and feeling desperate!

Here is a good website I found for diet to regulate blood sugar levels - it's American but the pronciples are the same:
http://www.pmscomfort.com/pms-diet/pms-pmdd-balance-diet-hypoglycemia.aspx

Sorry to hear about your anxiety attack - have you seen the site nomorepanic? http://www.nomorepanic.co.uk/ Looks like there is a forum as well so hopefully you can get advice from others for non-drug methods of coping with your anxiety?

Hi Ladies

Went to bed at 7.45 really didn't feel right shaky, just strange, didn't eat too badly yesterday grapes, bananas, tangerine before lunch, then for lunch I had an egg roll, after that I started to feel fainty then bought a yoghurt and ate it outside boots it helped a bit, in the afternoon I had more grapes, small bag of cashew nuts, for tea I had a pie, veg and potatoes and gravy, I also drank a few glasses of water through the day.

I was only saying at one stage yesterday I was feeling ok, didn't last x
