I've been to lots of different types being a serial funeral attender or so it seems lately! The last one - I think it was the last one - was my friend who had mouth cancer. He was a great social person but his local pub (my local) was too small to hold the number of mourners expected so it was held in one of the other ones he frequented. The first drink was free and everyone was offered a glass of champagne or soft drink to toast him. The buffet was provided. There were 300 mourners at the crem and half of them came back to the Wake. We started there, obviously, and then after a couple of hours went back to "our" local and toasted him again there. I was driving so didn't have anything more than the champagne and a glass of wine. Others were more merry but not in an unpleasant way. It was a fitting tribute to a really happy guy. He planned it all himself of course having had a good few months to sort it out which gave it quite a poignant feel.
I want everyone to have a proper "knees up" when I go - the more the merrier. Definitely no cremation for me.
We digress from holidays!!
