Glad to be on Terra firma that's for sure. Way back wasn't great due to turbulence. When we arrived in Guernsey last week we'd already had a failed landing. We circled for an hour before they tried again. Hubby says, "This is how accidents happen!!!" I told him to put a sock in it, or words to that effect!  ;) Some very relieved passengers.

Was Guernsey worth the visit?

It was nice, but you really need a car to see everything. We used local buses which don't really stop near main attractions. Buses only hourly & mainly stop at 7pm. Centre of Guernsey is dead at night. By time we'd had a meal we had to get taxi back to our hotel.

I have in my hand 'go explore' by Caledonian macBrayne.  Any experiences of travelling to the Islands ……. the worst that can happen?   :beaurk: likely?

Cal Mak sail to all the islands near where we are. They also do the sailings from Oban.

I have gone to a lot of the islands...except the really remote ones...off the West Coast. Where were you thinking of going to and the time of year kind of dictates what the weather will be like.

Let's just say I wouldn't do a long trip in the winter but a lot of the sailings are an hour or less.

Arran....50 mins
Cumbrae ...10 mins
Bute .......35 mins
Dunoon.....20 mins
Mull from Oban ...45 mins

The rest I haven't done....

I'm not the best sailor but I'm fine outside in the fresh air.
That gives you a good choice.....by the time you are on and out of the car you are half way there.

Arran is my favourite ....Scotland in miniature ...absolutely beautiful.

Well.....

Mainland to Arran...50 mins in good weather....May till Sept.

My daughter came back in wild weather....not even green.

We were diverted.once ...2 1/2 hours and to a different port. ...  ;D....I was fine but had to be outside.

Normally it's absolutely fine ...really it is, I see a good few of the ferries everyday, they are big boats and there is not a problem.

Until I step on board  :D and we want to take the camper ……… good idea Limpy ……… this morning however, I can't even think about going away, queasy  :'(.  My 'uncle' who lives in Paisley often travelled to Arran, that's his suggestion when we speak on the 'phone  ::)
